Looking at potentially taking a job up there.

It doesn't appear that there is anywhere at all to sled up there, which would mean they'd have to offer me about double what I'm making now to make it worth my while.

Anybody know anything about sledding up there?

If you're trying to compare sledding in Minot to sledding in Utah, you better think again.

You'll be looking at trailering ~2 hours, likely straight north to Canada around Riding Mountain National Park. Usually there isn't much for snow around there. If you're looking for mountain riding, plan on riding Cooke City.

Snow has been a little scarce in North Dakota since 1997.....you are probably lookin at the turtle mountains (Bottineau North Dakota) for some riding but nothing to write home about......Cooke or the Big Horns are about the closest good riding

I grew up in minot and lived there for 18 years. The only riding is in the ditches. Better be a good job. They would have to pay me 10 times what I am making now to ever think about going back. Not much there in Mindrot.

we havent had much snow to brag about for many years. if you like ditch banging then go to minot. you will find snow to ride but your going to trailer at least 2 hrs.

Trade in your skis and pick up an IMCA Street or a Mod to race at Nodak Speedway.
You'll need a passport to get into Canada I do believe
Snow sux as well as the long below zero temp spells during the winter.
If you get the urge, there is always the Black Hills to ride

I think there is some poon over there looking for luvin' though.
Could'a swore I seen an ad somewhere, one who's husband was out of state for a few months, Knocked up and she was begging for smeone, real bad....

Guess you wouldn't be lonely

My wife grew up there too...I've been there....ain't nothing to ride there except those Turtle Mountains an hour or so north east.

No Dak as a whole has been not getting much snow the last 8-10 winters. If sledding is a big part of your life and a huge decision maker for your location I would say not to choose ND. The extent of our riding the last couple years have been up and down the ditch the night we are loading our sleds for our trip west.

One of my college roommates was from Minot. The weather was always much milder than the eastern part of the state, but that always meant that Minot had little or no snow every year.

Nope. Not yet.

i agree, i would have to get offered huge $$ to move back to ND. especially from Utah. i lived in grand forks for 4 years and there was snow but everything is flat. Minot has some more terrain but they never seem to get consistant snowfall.

Yep, around Grand Forks you can see where your dog ran away.... for 3 days

it all depends on what kind of sled you have, we have 2 mountain sleds and one z 570, you can ride the ditches every once in a while, and the turtle mountains usually have a little snow...but as far as good mountain riding, you are looking at about a 12 hour drive anywhere you go.

Dude, Mindrot sucks bad. We went riding there once as we had friends that lived in Fargo. Flatter than piss on a plate and ditch riding. Not to mention there is nothing up there to do, it sucks, stay in Utah.

Turtle Mountains.... :eek: LOL They shouldn't be called "mountains..." One of my fondest memories was at the nudie bar. Most places have a brass pole. Not the one we were at. How's a wood pillar sound? :eek: Oh yes, it was comical. On the upside, we had a LOT of these ---> :beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;
