Any sledding around Minot, ND?

I used to live in Bismarck, 100 miles south of Minot. Sledding is virtually non-existent. The people that live in ND try to convince themselves it's a great place to live. In the summer you have 90% humidity along with +90 degree temps. Mosquitos thrive all over the state, you really can't hang out on your deck in the evening and enjoy a beer. The upland game hunting is excellent provided you have a friend on the other side of the million or so gates. The fishing is excellent and is really the only thing I miss. Ditch banging in 10 below zero leaves a bit to be desired. I moved west 23 years ago and don't have any desire to return to NoDak. I have one of the most awesome mountain ranges in the world just minutes from my backdoor. Moving west was kind of like dying and going to heaven. Most the sledders I know in NoDak make a few trips to Island Park every winter.

Born and raised in Grand Forks. Unfortunitly Im still here because of school(UND). I would suggest staying right where you are if you want to spend a lot of time on the snow instead of wishing for it. GF is hit or miss for snow and Minot is even worse. Just letting you know what its really like.

All you guys that moved out west, what industry are you in?

I'm have an IT/Telco background and it sure doesn't seem like there is much going on out west.

Then again I have heard its blast to find Farm implements and barb wire fences with a snow mobile.

Hell why do ya think John Deer started making sleds ! Never thought of that one Huh ?

Dont they have the nationals up in FAAAAAARGO ?

I got family up there so I can make fun !

dont move to ND, that is the main point to be made here. I took a job in bismarck 5 years ago and have been trying to get out for the last 2. the weather sucks the people are strange and there is nothing to do here unless hunting and fishing are a big priority. As stated the turtle mountains about an hour away are pretty fun trail riding if they get snow (which is hit or miss) but after that its about 5 hours to the black hills, 7 hours to the big horns, 8.5 hours to yellowstone.

I live in East Grand Forks, MN. It sounds like i might be moving to Minot within 6 months. I would've never thought i would be there. Last year when i was going to see my girlfriend, there was a couple of feet of snow in EGF and when i got there, there was not a flake on the ground. I might have to sell my flatlander. On a positive note, I will be closer to my bro in Big SKy.

Eh, I talked to the guy then thought about it for a few hours and emailed him back saying I don't think I'm gonna take it.

I have a few other leads I'm pursuing around the rockies first ... I figured they would have had to double my current salary for me to really be serious about going there and I don't think they were gonna do that hahah :D

I'm still in Minot....cough,cough Not much for snow as stated, but a great place to raise kids. No crime and good schools. We just trailer out west to the good stuff and occasionally ride the turtle mtns if they have fresh snow.

PM me if you change your mind.
