600's will last that long all day.
Had a pro 8 with around 4k on it before she dropped a cylinder wall, blew out the cases and smoked the head. But it also had the ethanol plug and 91 put in for its whole life, so ran rich and easy on the timing is what I assume made it last so long.
My compression was fine too, have the piston to cylinder clearance checked...My 2013 pro 800 has 5300km,checked compression and its still fine on both cylinders
Thanks for all the replies. Im still on the fence about a top end. Maybe Ill get Herb to help me out and just get it over with. What is the "recommended" parts for these pros while redoing the top end?
Im sure the RK Tech pistons would be nice, but what if you still have 2 years of warranty left.... i would think swapping out the pistons would void any warranty left. What if the piston -cylinder wall clearance is twice the recommended allowance, will polaris replace this under warranty? Same with compression..?...
Call Curt at Fastrax, not trying to knock RK Tech, but Curt knows what piston/head combos work for our elevations, etc. I'm sure he would sell you just the parts...Thanks for all the replies. I sacrificed my 2nd year motor warranty and put a rkt kit in. Stock pistons had 78thou clearance and if memory serves right PI wouldn't cover it till 95thou. Warranty doesn't mean crap to me if my engine blows during a 10 day road trip when I could've prevented it for 4 bills. Jmo.
