Curious if there are any higher milage 2013 pros out there, no top end rebuilds. Where are ya guys?

I have 4k miles on mine, it has run flawlessly. This summer I pulled the motor and took it to Dan at Indy Specialties. (figured I was on borrowed time) It'll now have Dan's LR motor in it, should be good for another couple of years.

600's will last that long all day.

Had a pro 8 with around 4k on it before she dropped a cylinder wall, blew out the cases and smoked the head. But it also had the ethanol plug and 91 put in for its whole life, so ran rich and easy on the timing is what I assume made it last so long.

I understand the rich, but why would timing be retarded for ethanol? Should be generally the other way.

5450 miles on my 2011 800 163 and 4300 on my wife's 2011 800 155.

Motors are untouched on both.

Zero issues with either sled.

Wife's is for sale, she got a 2014 800 163 over the summer.

put 1700 miles on my '14 last year. Took it into the shop and the piston to cylinder clearance was about twice the width of a new one, good thing I had it checked.

They weren't exactly easy miles though, as you know Mr. Mike ;)

Hi, My 2013 163" Pro Retro with 2000m is at Action Sports, Mandan, ND two full years of warranty left. Nice condition. Track is in very nice shape with only one paddle with a small corner off. No problems with the engine ever. Call Dwight, Chad, Kristin at 800 814 9185. Ask for Bob Gregoire's sled. It is still in my trailer but arrangements can be made. At least you can get their price.

Prob fixed a while ago but I havent been able to find a definitive answer yet, did Polaris recall the 13s for the driveshaft issues?

There was a recall to out the clamp on the driveshaft. Saw one fail at my dealer pre clamp, zero after

My 13 is at 3k miles more or less can't remember the exact number
Had a rebuild after one season (top end). Had lower compression than I would like. It's getting another before the season starts as good measure

Thanks for all the replies. Im still on the fence about a top end. Maybe Ill get Herb to help me out and just get it over with. What is the "recommended" parts for these pros while redoing the top end?

Im sure the RK Tech pistons would be nice, but what if you still have 2 years of warranty left.... i would think swapping out the pistons would void any warranty left. What if the piston -cylinder wall clearance is twice the recommended allowance, will polaris replace this under warranty? Same with compression..?...

I sacrificed my 2nd year motor warranty and put a rkt kit in. Stock pistons had 78thou clearance and if memory serves right PI wouldn't cover it till 95thou. Warranty doesn't mean crap to me if my engine blows during a 10 day road trip when I could've prevented it for 4 bills. Jmo.

RKT pistons will blow the motor warranty. Sorry, maybe a great dealer could pull it off, by poo is requiring lots of pics now on many warranty submissions. Low compression is explicitly written out of the warranty - they won't cover it. I don't think there's a spec in a warranty, but clearance isn't a trigger, either. Again, a great dealer relationship with poo, nothing is impossible. They want you to ride it till it blows apart, then try to pick you apart. Just the way it is. Find a good dealer, be nice, bring beer and donuts.

If you are compelled to replace pistons, and you may be, most failsafe way to retain the warranty is to replace with OEM pistons, by a poo dealer, on your nickel. Have them document the install. If she blows, take it to the same dealer. Good luck.

Call Curt at Fastrax, not trying to knock RK Tech, but Curt knows what piston/head combos work for our elevations, etc. I'm sure he would sell you just the parts...

Elevation and air density and moisture content all come into play. Plus, he's local, so if you do have a problem it's easier to deal with.

Yup i only got 2 year. Ill be around 1800-2000 miles end of this year on my 2014. Saved the $500 for the rk tek pistons for the third. I would rather be brappin than pullin my pud while sleds at dealer getting fixed on "warranty".
