any D8 WITH updates failing?

On our new motor 800's we have had great luck so far. at the end of our last ride we checked in the cylinder and it looked really good and the spark plugs are burning awesome. I am seriously impressed with what polaris has goin right now. hope this helps.

Not exactly failing...

But not setting the world on fire either. Mine ran way better before the update. I have 2 friends who have 800's also and they are having the same problems. Sleds seem to idle low, not get rpms, just feel generally gutless. Seems like such a crap shoot when it comes to these things. Last year when everyone was having motor problems, mine ran great. (Besides the chaincase crapping out twice) Hopefully I will get it figured out, I like the sled when it runs right.

to do or not to do.... now that is the question. Is it better to leave it alone and not do the updates??????

How did yours run last year? What elevation do you ride at? Seems like the lower elevation guys are having better luck. In retrospect I wish I wouldn't have done mine, but hindsight is always 20/20. I can't remember if there is a time limit on the updates, but I know a lot of people are waiting for parts. If it ran good last year I would keep riding it until something breaks.

Mine failed but it was a pre-existing problem that caused it to fail. Only took 6 tries for them to get it right (hopefully) :p

Waiting

I have Carl's port/pipe/head cut combo and it runs like a raped ape on the 09 top end. If I am not mistaken we have until june 1 to get the update installed under warrenty. I am waiting until the last minute.

My sled has ran great last year at home and in Cooke. After the update I have rode it round home a few times and it seems to be running the same. I would say the power feels the same and it pulls the exact same rpm's as before the update. I have yet to try it at elevation. I made a couple runs next to an 2010 Assault and they are dead even.

picked mine up yesterday hope to ride it today its a 800 shift hope it has no problems because the BLACKHILLS just got 2-4 feet this last week

6 times???... you seriously have WAY more patience than I do!!! Hats off to you for staying so determined!!!

I'd put the work order in now... and have them get the kit in... you never know what can happen between now and June.

Then have the update done in the spring...

Just my 2 cents...

I had the 2010 updated parts and flashes put on my 08 dragon 800 a few months ago it blew up this morning. I made it about 125 miles on the new parts. this will make the 6th top end in a year and I have also had a complete new block due to a retarded mechanic. In my opinion we should file a class action lawsuit against polaris. as soon as I have the extra money and my dragon is fixed again I'm trading in for an m8 sno pro

I know this has been said before but it really seems like the ones that go down go down often and the ones that dont go down run great. I really believe that there is something being missed by some of the dealers that are setting up, maintaining, and selling these sleds

Some people have said that you can ride on your non-updated machine for free and if you loose the top end just get your free update. I think that is a bad idea because you could loose the motor in an area that is not convenient. It could be hell bringing it back to the truck. Then you could be waiting weeks to get it updated and sitting at home while everyone else is riding. I'd get the update when you can.

I was one of those who said ride it. The dealer doesn't have to have it to be inline, but the back ordered parts showed up awefully fast once it was actually seized. Too bad the update doesn't have anything to do with why mine failed in the first place.

re; updates

Has anyone tried running with the new pistons and head and leave the old program in it.

Don't you guys in the USA have a Lemon law that will protect you against issues like this? Sounds like you should get your money back!!!

i have about 150 miles on mine and no problems so far. All the miles are in the mountains at higher elevations. pulls strong, no stumble.
