Any beta on sledding in the Steens?

This is a call out to anyone with information about sledding in the Steens Mountains. I want to backcountry ski the Steens in late March and want to access the rim with my sled. I see references to the High Desert Snow Drifters Snowmobile Club, who is active and has special privledges with BLM in the area.

Can anyone help me out with advice on how to access from East of West side, and whether there are any cabins in the area?

Years ago we looked into sledding the Steens. You need to get in touch w/ the BLM field office in Burns.
