Any aro ride reports

Bump. How is the aro performing?

Not much snow where I am and haven't got the Aro out yet. Anxious to know if it was worth the extra $ or if I should have just went with the RAW.

7 rides for me so far, no issues other than having way too much damn fun!

I’m in Northeastern MN, we have around 2-3 feet of snow here so it’s pretty thin. I’ve gotten out twice now with my ARO. It’s a 137 LE on a 2017 Honda 450RX. Here’s my experience fwiw so far. Again snow conditions aren’t great and I just wanted to get out on it before heading west in a few days.

First rip was running down the ditch mn hwy 1 (steep and windy): handled great in the fresh plowed fluff pushed over from the plow trucks, this track hooks up very good. On the driveway approaches the ski would hit gravel and about send me over the bars. When it hooks it hooks hard. Not really liking how sharp an angle the center skag has. I may also have to make adjustments to lighten up ski pressure. I won’t make changes until I get it in real snow though.

Second rip was to break in the new rekluse radiusCX clutch: this time it was a few miles of trail and then about 30 miles round trip to a cabin on unplowed logging roads. This time I almost bit the snowdust hard. Going wide open down a straight away I got into an open area where the snow had been blown off the road, all ice. The bike twitched and threw it into the death wobbles. No idea how but I managed to save it without going down (lucky). The ski also was extremely darty on previous tracks and ruts that were hardened and set up. It was definitely a handful. In a little bit looser snow it was fine and tracked straight. Again the center skag wants to grab and hook EVERYTHING. This could also be a ski pressure issue or just junk snow conditions.

The ARO suspension is by far better than my old 15MH. Soaks up everything and doesn’t feel near as harsh. The ARO was well worth the upgrade and I haven’t even been able to put it where it belongs, in deep mountain pow. I’m also running the trio, works awesome and never bottomed it out (RX has soft forks). I also have the TSS on the bike. I think I’m gonna have a blast with it once I hit the mountains. Minus a few very sketchy moments and cruddy snow here in MN I’ve been having fun with it.

If I need to the only changes I’ll be doing will be figuring out better ski pressure and trimming the angle of the center skag.

I love my aero was out riding for the weekend with my budy on the same bike 2014 YZ450 He has a 2015 TS with a 129" track conversion as well as the ARO ski I have the Aero 120 on the same bike. First of all on the trail ( braking trail or loosely packed trails where the centre runner does not contact rocks) the New ski is where it is at makes the older kit handle almost as good as the New Aro. In the pow around 2 feet it is a toss up ( except for suspension ARO is superior there) When you point it up hill that new Aro track Outperforms the older softer 129" track by a good margin.
With only a 120 I was expecting to be lacking a bit in the steep and deep --Not so.
My only complaint is that stupid u channel centre runner from TS it seems to be specifically designed to wreck forks spindles and send riders over the bars. Even after grinding the heck out of it to smoothen it I would still consider it dangerous
Polaris / Timbersled wake up and fix this with a proper carbide. I am not Interested to hurt myself just because of your unsafe designs of a Centre Runner.
Can I spell that out any better is anyone listening??

Any more ride reports ? Trying to decide what kit to do with next year.

Freaking Awesome, way better than expected, wouldn't hesitate to recommend one or purchase. Great trail manners, great suspension, good improvement from previous kits.

How does it compare in 2" of fresh snow to the old kits when climbing? It would be a 137" as I would be getting out of sledding.

My last one was a 120 and this one is a 137LE so it is hard to compare on that front. The 137 definitely goes through more than the 120. It seems to get up on the snow better too. It still does not climb like a sled, but still really good. The thing that impressed me the most is that the 137aro does not feel any less playful than the 120.

I was it 2ft+ powder last week and it did not have any issues.

. I went from 2013 500 xcw and 15 st to 16 FC450 with new ARO 120 LE. New kit is night and day better than the 15 with regards to carving thru the trees and pounding down the whooped out trails. I have been riding very deep powder and kit gets up and out really well. I had to pull forks up an inch to get lighter ski pressure. Other way is to shorten the TSS.
I really like how the 450 works so the overall package is really good. :face-icon-small-hap

you prefer the 450over the 500?

I really like the close ratio transmission. Also like how the 450 revs higher. I have a PR2 ecu on the 450 which makes it run great. The fellow who bought my 500 put a 610 kit in it. I will have to try that out when we ride together. I also here that a PR2 ecu on the 500 really helps out. The only thing I miss right now is the 6th gear. Will put that in next season when I big bore the 450.
