Any 2010 spy pics yet?

Have you been informed of the state of our economy?

No, whats going on with the economy? Oh, right. I am not at a job right now, billing is done and no bids out there.

Manufactures are designing and re-tooling for production a couple of years ahead of current model years. The M-Chassis works, period. Why redesign. Engines can be cranked up in HP with no major line changes.

Production will cut back and layoffs within the organization will happen. (Approximately 65 positions in all departments are being eliminated, mostly from the company's Thief River Falls, Minn., facility, and the company has not ruled out future layoffs if snowmobile sales don't rebound.)

Aftermarket parts manufactures with a large overhead will suffer greatly. With a good product (stock) on the floor, those that have an already tight budget will leave it mostly stock. Maybe some new sticker. IMO only.....

sleds

Ok we can all probly agree the current m sled is the best thing going..but i would venture to say , even if ac did have a new sled in the ready..they would sink all of their dealers by releasing it..in wa . state you can find any dealer sitting on 5-10 m1 tons in nearly every configuration and year 07=08, not to mention some of the dealers offering buy one get one free or half price or whatever their latest promo was, If they release a new platform it would leave every dealer with a grip of "lame duck" inventory, thier best bet at that point would be to take all those things back, put some new graphics on 'em , make a few factory mods and re - release them.

Despite the current economic climate, Arctic Cat reported very strong snowmobile sales in the fiscal 2009 third quarter, which ended Dec. 31, 2008.

Sales of Arctic Cat’s snowmobiles rose 51 percent to $90.9 million in the 2009 third quarter versus $60.0 million in the fiscal third quarter last year. According to Arctic Cat, innovative new products, lower North American dealer inventories and increased international sales led to significantly higher snowmobile sales in the quarter. Arctic Cat’s year-to-date snowmobile sales totaled $210.7 million, up 25 percent from $168.9 million in the prior-year period.

“We are pleased with the response to our 2009 model introductions,” says Arctic Cat CEO Christopher A. Twomey. “Our newest snowmobiles demonstrate our ongoing strategy to grow market share by offering industry-leading technologies with products such as our Z1 Turbo Sno Pro, which is the world’s fastest production snowmobile and exceeds 2012 EPA emissions standards.”

Arctic Cat’s overall net sales in the fiscal 2009 third quarter reached $174.7 million, compared to $159.6 in the same quarter last year. However, sales of Arctic Cat’s ATVs were down 18 percent to $57.8 million versus $70.1 million in the prior-year third quarter. Year-to-date, Arctic Cat’s ATV sales totaled $183.2 million, down 12 percent compared to $207.4 million in the first nine months of last fiscal year.

“Unfortunately, overall demand for recreational products remains weak, due to the year-long deterioration in global economic conditions, higher unemployment, historically low consumer confidence and the continued credit crisis,” says Twomey. “As a result, industry-wide ATV retail sales declined further in the December quarter and we do not see a quick recovery. Retail sales of Arctic Cat’s ATVs fared somewhat better than the industry as a whole for the quarter and year to date. However, because of the weak retail environment, we are now planning significantly lower ATV sales to our dealers in the fourth quarter versus the prior-year period, in order to better align dealer inventories with consumer demand.”

Send those 07's and 08's to Canada - we'll buy em. Hell, I'd love to find a leftover 07 / 08 162" M1 SnoPro as a base for the next project... I just don't want to pay 11K Cdn for it...

Old Cats

I'd agree with Dooalot I think AC should work with the dealers to make the hold-over (pre-09) a little more atractive. I'd gladly spend another 3k or so on an 09 (hold-over) -vs- starting with the heavier, mechanicaly reversed M and have to spend the $ to get it as good as the 09.You could almost give me an 07-08 M8 and I'd still fork out the coin for an 09, but thats jmo. Oh and by the way I was in at the local dealer and asked about the RTR , I was under the presumption that it would be a dealer option but they thought it would be a factory based release (of course NO warranty). Said they would know more afte the show in Vegas in a few weeks.

I agree there is almost no way I would buy an 07 for sure and even an 08 would be a BIG discount. Nice idea on the updates, but it will never happen.

The labor would be too cost prohibitive. Plus 90% of the people ride them stock and don't really know the difference from year to year. The elec reverse would require a totally different electrical system, gear box, etc.

My hope is a DI M8 with more weight loss and 160HP from the factory. In reality we will get the same sled as this year with a 5lb weight loss and BNG. Still a pretty sweet sled. I just hope there are hold over 09's at a big discount in the fall.
