Another Motor Thanks Polaris

No offense but it seems like guys that trail ride can say they get thousands of miles....duhh!

I've been through a lot of motors and every brand has gone around 1500 miles. When u ride as hard as Mtn riders doo, nothing will last. That's why we snowcheck and get a good warranty?

If warranty actually covered the helicopter ride out then it would be worth something to me. Include a hidden mountain rescue tax in with the warranty, to cover the expense, and I would leave it stock. But they don't, so I don't.

You get a new sled every?? Must be nice if it's every couple years. My 2012 Pro will be my main transportation for at least 4 years. But I am not complaining.....yet.:face-icon-small-hap

UH NO :face-icon-small-con I had 7700 klm's on my MM700 triple piped and ported compression was down the last season All it needed was a quick cross hatch and new rings for the new owner

Another perspective,
91 indy 500 5500 miles - 1 motor
92 RXL 650 2900 miles no problems
93 wildcat POS
96 Ultra 4000 miles - 1 piston, (piped)
98 Indy 600 3-4000 miles - no problems
2000 Hi-mark 700 2000 ish miles - 2 motors ( once crank seal , then piston and jugs)
2001 RMK 800 4000 miles ish - twin pipes - no problems
2004 Rev 800, 3-4000 miles- 2 motors ( crank seal first time,top end second)
2006 Apex 1000 miles with NOS, 2000 miles boosted - 1 motor (dealer paid)
2009 M8 3000 ish miles- 1 motor (squeaked at about 500 miles)
Bought a used 2008 XP for wife 1400 miles- crank seal went out $4000 grand later (hate XP's great trail sled for wife)
2011 Pro 800 3200 miles - no problems ( installed new pistons and rings cause i sold to a friend)
2013 Pro 800 - 550 miles, no problems (drive shaft clamp, original belt)

So the way I see it, they all have their issues.
Biggest POS's in my opinion, 2008-2010 Dragons and 2007 Rev XRS and 2005-6 Doo 1000's.

96 XCR triple pipes - 1 motor 1800 mile (dealer caused)
99 XC 700, pipes - 1 motor @ 5550 miles
2003 RMK, pipes & reeds 800 - 1 motor @3800 Miles
2005 RMK 900 151, 2300 miles No failures
2007 Dragon 700 155 46oo Mile No failures
2008 Dragon 800 pipe, reeds, power commander, 1 motor @ 2400 miles
2011 800 Assault, Can, 2700 miles No failures, not even a belt...

My sleds are ridden hard, but well maintained, always add a cup of oil to the gas. Some failures are acceptable on high perf 2 strokes. I am in complete agreement, they all have thier issues, and THIS IS NOT A CHEAP SPORT, but fun as hell because we keep doing it..

Waiting to snow check a 14, if it has more power...... Otherwise I will rebuild and turbo the Assault. I love my sled, but more power is a requirement!

1996 xcr440 2300 miles no issues
1999 rmk550 2500 no issues
2001 zr 440 sno pro 2 motors 3600 miles
2004 1m600 2800 miles trouble free
2006 m7 3500 miles trouble free (sleds still running)
2008 m8 sold at 2800 miles no issues
2010 m8 sold at 1700 no issues
2012 hcr 1300 no issues

Motor wise i been great, pllllleeaaase let me soon to be assault be the same!! I am great on motors ( vary throttle a lot) and let them warm up, use quality oil.

But clutching is a diff story it dont like my style!

So, I have seen so many threads talking about how pissed people are when their motors go. I personally have had several polaris sleds. Some have been flawless, some have had issues. We all spend tons of money buying our sleds and it sucks when they dont work. I currently have two Pros right now, one 600 and one 800 with no issues. We all need to remember that we are running two strokes here, two strokes break. I am pretty sure if you ride a pro, you run the piss out of it. Running these things hard will break them down eventually. They are not as reliable as a four strokes. We all love the pros becuase of the light weight and sometimes we sacrifice relaibalilty by having two stroke engines. I hate having to rebuild my engines, but hell then I can go bigger bore! If you want an engine you never have to worry about, get a four stroke that weighs 100 pounds more.

That's is pure crap, Polaris has known since 2008 what was wrong with these motors the aftermarket people have figured it out why won't Polaris. When I pay 10,000 dollars for a machine I expect it to last more than 1400 mile. And then when they warranty it they put the same crap back in it. I have been riding Polaris since 1969 I have been very loyal to them but now my loyalty is in question.
This engine will be put back together and we all know it will go down again then I will be out of warranty. Question why don't they warranty there fix?
And just accepting or expecting a motor to go down is crap also for the price they can do better.
I always warmed the sled up first.
I run Polaris Oil Blue
I run premium Chevron fuel
no mods just a can.
And the best sleds I have ever owned:
1980 440 TX
1986 600 SKS
Both were bullet proof
Thanks for listening to my rant

My 13 pro 800 blew with 500 miles, crank bearings went, wrecked piston. Bone stock, ethanol free, ves oil, always warmed up. Never even got a chance to run it hard. Polaris has no motors available till at least March 15. What a rip off!! I'm gonna loose at least a month of prime riding and what do I get in return? NOTHING!! Bastards! Bastards!

Okay, you have been loyal since 1969 and it has taken this long to decide they suck?? Come on, that's silly to say the least! They all have issues, but Polaris dominates the mountain market and everyone knows it! Buy something else if you can find something better and quit whining.

Despicable

Breaking something, OK, I can live with that.... No parts available to fix it and months of lost riding time? Inexcusable, and very very wrong..... What good is a warranty if it can't be repaired? I would be contacting my attorney.

ya I feel your pain, i lost a cylinder skirt and blew a hold thru the case on a 2011 pro in cooke city, mt this year. Was not happy. It had 2200 miles, all stock except the oiler was turned up 2 1/2 turns. I am going to try for the TM3 motor...
