Another Motor Thanks Polaris

What kind of fuel did you run, 10%+ Ethanol or non ethanol? What kind of oil? Do you warm up your sled? Any modifications?

Some people can get thousands of miles out of their sled and the next guy won't. There are sooo many variables to consider...

1 99 700 RMK, 1 98 700 RMK, 1 02 800 RMK, 3 08 700 RMK, 3 09 Dragon, 2 2011 Pro. I think I win. In Polaris's defense, 2 of those sleds had twin pipes.
All others, single pipe or stock. 1 07 M8 1000 trouble free miles.

You do know 2-stroke sleds require you to fill the oil reservoir...right??? :face-icon-small-coo

I figured I would get some chit for this one. The 08 700 was a puzzle. I was running an SLP single. It wasn't running right, so I took it in and it was way down on compression. They rebuilt it, I put it back to stock, and it went down on the ride. I rebuilt it again and sold it before I put another mile on it. Word is, it went down on that dude too. I felt terrible. 700's are bullet proof, so it was a mystery too me. As for the rest, i don't know, I ride hard, but c'mon. And yes Virginia, I realize they take oil. :D

Another perspective,
91 indy 500 5500 miles - 1 motor
92 RXL 650 2900 miles no problems
93 wildcat POS
96 Ultra 4000 miles - 1 piston, (piped)
98 Indy 600 3-4000 miles - no problems
2000 Hi-mark 700 2000 ish miles - 2 motors ( once crank seal , then piston and jugs)
2001 RMK 800 4000 miles ish - twin pipes - no problems
2004 Rev 800, 3-4000 miles- 2 motors ( crank seal first time,top end second)
2006 Apex 1000 miles with NOS, 2000 miles boosted - 1 motor (dealer paid)
2009 M8 3000 ish miles- 1 motor (squeaked at about 500 miles)
Bought a used 2008 XP for wife 1400 miles- crank seal went out $4000 grand later (hate XP's great trail sled for wife)
2011 Pro 800 3200 miles - no problems ( installed new pistons and rings cause i sold to a friend)
2013 Pro 800 - 550 miles, no problems (drive shaft clamp, original belt)

So the way I see it, they all have their issues.
Biggest POS's in my opinion, 2008-2010 Dragons and 2007 Rev XRS and 2005-6 Doo 1000's.

I agree a 2 stroke motor should just last. I bought a 13 pro after being an AC guy for the last 15-16 years. They all have their problems, and we either acknowledge that when we buy or pretend the problems don't exist. I accept I may dump an engine. I'll be pissed but I accept the fact that it's a risk and I'm willing to take that chance. So far, couldn't be happier and don't regret my decision. Until I lose a motor....
