Am I the only one???

dragon experience

My 08 D8 155 has a tad over 1400 miles for 3 seasons, all in the mountains of Wyoming (first trip this season is is 2 weeks:face-icon-small-hap ) It blew the VR and ECU simultaneously at the end of last season. Polaris paid for everything but $50 deductible. Later, engine light flashed 5 times - replaced exhaust sensor. That's it. Best sled I've ever owned. Love the way it runs. Love the way it handles. That's my experience. 95% good.

So I'm left to wonder what the true answer is!? Stop riding... HELL NO! Switch to Cat, not likely! WOndering what you guys think???Then again I have 2 years of warranty left on my Assault, so I think i'm will run it and enjoy as much as possible.

Buy a 09-10 700 and toss some mods at it.

09 Assault with 2150 miles. Had the update done and the old pistons were like new. Has the normal bog once in a while but other than that the motor is pretty good. I cant seem to get my pcv dialed in with the autotune. Does anyone out there have a map that works from 0-3000 feet with the april reflash?

OH skibreeze so now when a person states that they have 400 or 600 miles on a sled with no trouble we are bragging huh? Think again, we are saying that that is how many mile we have ridden with no issues.

That's exactly what I'm saying, you have the equivalent of 2 months of riding on it.

I have to agree with skibreeze guys, 400 miles on a sled is nothing. My old vmax 4 1992 had 17000miles and it was still on it's original pistons!! Not a mountain but a lake racer so THAT is reliable, lots of guy begun to have problem on their d8 at 2000 miles+ so maybe when we get there we'll have the same issue:face-icon-small-sho

08 d8 2000 miles all mtn. no groomers. did my own update wiseco pro-lites, power addiction 13.6-1 head, attitude box, stock map and rips. only problems have been rider induced/ having to much fun related, exept I did have to replace my air temp sensor and it cost almost as much as a fuel filter DAMN!
I think these sleds are awesome myself, you will always here from the guys who are broke down because the rest are out riding.

I saw afew posts back a guy saying that he thought the dual ring polaris update piston was low compression and looser cylinder clearance, I am pretty sure you are confused. The head was lower compression and the clearance issue they tried to adress but they are still too loose. Just the way I understood it.

BOUM!!:face-icon-small-fro

after a nice ride on saturday my dragon burned down this morning, guess I should have knock on wood when I started this thread lol!

i have a 2008 palaris dragon and i love it its got slp head on it slp pipe can y pipe everything it was out climbing the M1000 this weekend i was jacked little probablems with the rpms but got that all worked out cant say i havent had any other probablems with it

2009 d8

:face-icon-small-disI have a 2009 d8 burned down at 350 miles warrantied, put a pc-v at 600 miles it burned down again no warranty, thats it. i am getting rid of it . i really liked riding it, but have no confidence in getting back to the truck

2009 D8 163 totally stock (first for me) , 2000 miles and no problems, all I have done is get the update and replace the fuel filter, oh and I'm on my second belt. It hasn't the power it had before the update but I'm really into riding the trees so it's not a big deal.

thats the funny part..I went back to stock cause I still had a warranty on the engine for one more year and I figured if my engine let me down this year I would not have the money to rebuild it right now. AND it sucks to be in canada because everytime I wanted to try a clutch part for my tuning I had to wait 2 weeks to get it to my door.

Nobody rides turbo sled here so the shops didn't have the parts..:face-icon-small-fro

So went back to stock, got the new map in it, went for a ride on thursday run alright except for two little glitch, friday perfect, saturday so-so on the bigger hills and powder and sunday morning with the gf it died..that was about 200miles after april map and I ride 0-3000ft. I should have kept my turbo lol.

I'll never understand why people that have no issues get mad at people that do... this is a 3 year plus DOCUMENTED problem its not some science fiction story. If you dont have issues thank your lucky starts your the MINORITY. Several things factor into (mostly incorrect tolerances and rediculous quality control specs) why some work great and no matter how hard you push them have no issues yet the next once cant get out of its own way.

If you have a good running sled great! ride it be happy but at least be realistic about the issue. There is nothing more frustrating that paying 10K plus dollars for something that wont work and leaves you stranded god only knows where. Warranties great but that doesnt make you feel any better when your sleds blown up in some cornice out in the back country its getting dark and you have no idea how the F your getting it out of there let alone back to the dealer.

A little understanding goes a long way.

francois- any idea on what went? did you have a PCV on it?

Didnt seize so I think its just piston. No PCV I was turbo about a month ago and was running a attitude box with no problem. Before that I was stock for 2000km problems free so I thought the new flash would do it..guess I was wrong.

Nobody is getting mad here. In fact, if you read the entire thread you will see that in the last week I went from a good strong running sled to a blown engine. Since day one I was scared it would died and so far I had been lucky. I started the thread because I went for a ride on thursday and nobody would believe me when I said my dragon was still on it's first engine. I decided I was gonna find out if really I was the only one with a solid dragon. I know there is nothing fun about being stuck in the middle of nowhere, and I also no tha tit sucks trying to sell a sled and loose thousands of dollars!

I lost the crank on my 08 Sunday night. Bought a Doo. Yes, I know that they aren't perfect either but, I just didn't feel like giving Polaris any more money right now.
