Am I the only one???

I am reading tons of thread about the dragons' problems and it pretty much looks like nobody is satisfied. As much as I lost all confidence in my sled (09 d800 163) I must say I have never experience any problem with it!!

Try every mapping since I bought it (nov 09) and the sled never bog except at very low altitude and that was probably due to bad gas. Thought I would put it to the test when my father inlaw summit broke down and I had to tow it for 30miles at 55mi/h right in the lean spot but nop..It was on boost for about 500 miles, took me two days to figured out my attitude box wasn't plugged properly and still it never burnt down. Now Im back to stock with the april map and except two little bog yesterday nothing..no problem at all.

Is it the the strongest sled Ive ridden: no! But so far I can't say it hasn't been reliable. Am I the only one or what?

You are not the only one!

Have 1600km on my 2010 800 and no problems but some minor bogs when it was new. I dont now of anyone around here which has had theyre 800 cfi go down!

Very satisfied with my sled so far!:) exept for crappy a-arms;)

09 800 dragon, 1400 miles, no problems except for the dealer caused issues that had nothing to do with the sled. my theory is ride it like a mod sled, don't just hold the throttle in the midrange, ride it as hard as possible and it seems to work. a friend of mine has over 2000 miles with no problems. neither sled has been babied

The only issue I had with my '09 D8 155 was a VR failure back in '09. Added a PCV last year and it ripped. This year I upped the anty and installed a Silber turbo. Sled rips! love it!!

If I had a 09 800 I would NOT remove the single ring piston or do any updates to it, run 20% race gas with 1 oz/gallon premix good compression and run it...if it wiped the pistons i'd put a set of weisco's in it and go have fun...imho..dual ring pistons and low compression is NOT the way to put a bandaid over a tuning issue...the electronics on these 800's SUCK and the problem is the map is garbage...when pcv adds 20% :face-icon-small-sho:face-icon-small-shofuel in the midrange to run right ???? thats insane :face-icon-small-dis:face-icon-small-dis Just my opinion but I did ownd a race engine shop for 25 years....:p:p

Also jfyi friend runs a 09 800, single ring piston , bd turbo 09 mapping ...ZERO piston problems..so you tell me why piston can hold 10-12 psi boost and then stocker destroys the same piston ????

after totaling out my 09 m8 last year i found a really good deal on a new 09 800 rmk but i had a real hard time buying it due to everything i heard about these sleds but im glad i did i love the sled i have never had a problem with it. i have 350 miles so far all stock except for a can

I to got a screaming deal on a 2010 Assault, and other than the VR going out at 17 miles, I have loved it. But... with all the talk of problems I'm getting a bit punchy about it. Kinda makes a guy question his choices!! I have yet to experience any real issues, especially coming off of a Ski Doo 800 with crank issues up the wazoo. So I'm left to wonder what the true answer is!? Stop riding... HELL NO! Switch to Cat, not likely! WOndering what you guys think???Then again I have 2 years of warranty left on my Assault, so I think i'm will run it and enjoy as much as possible.

put a cat motor in it

I have 1800 miles on my 08, about 400 since the update, no issues for me. I did do some things to improve on what Polaris sold me. I put wire wrap on the wiring harness where it goes through the sharp edged bracket going into the hood. I sealed up the leaky air box, and installed a PC3 after hearing about all the issues. I also vented the side panels and hood, don't know if this has made my sled more reliable but it did'nt hurt.

I have a 2010 D8, have about 600 miles on it, slp can, stock pipe, v-force
reeds, stock fuel mapping (no reflashes), have had zero problems so far, and I ride 0-3000 ft.

put a cat motor in it

:face-icon-small-ton That would be badass! Suzuki builds a ripper of a motor. I Think I will just vent the crap out of it, PCV or 3 not sure which is best???, a couple of other things and let it rock! I do love this sled alot more than my 05 Doo! Lays over like a champ!

Had an 09 D8. Here's my story, loved the sled (when it ran good) that was the problem, you never knew when it was going to let you down. Two trips out west, vacation lost, broke down way back in the middle of no where, had to be towed back to town ( not only makes your day, really tests who your friends are) Would just die at the top of a climb, when you turn out, many rolls down the hill. Take back to dealer, do upDates, dealer could never get the sled to act up. You can't fix something that isn't broke. Take back out west, sled dies, roll down hill, break ribs, won't stay running, tow back to town, lay in motel two days, come home trade off sled and never look back. Don't get me wrong, the guy's that have a good one are very happy with them, it's just the rest of us, that had nothing but problems, that are not. The worst part of the problem is that Polaris was never there to help, it was always left up to the dealers to figure out what was wrong and fit it. The End. Good Luck with your's!!!!!!

I loved my 09 D8 until it went. Now it is a PULL THE ROPE AND HOPE SLED!
Check out video-WARNING THIS VID IS GRAPHIC! CURRENT D8 OWNERS BEWARE! HAPPY-it was still under Warrenty!

I think Polaris has a lemon issue, I ride my sled like i stole it, it is all or none:face-icon-small-hap. I run 2 gallons of race gas, put extra oil in the tank. I still go threw motors. I am on my fourth one. I have 2200 miles on sled, it is a 09 d8. But i have a friend that has over 3000 miles on his 08 d8 and is still running on original motor. My other friend has a 08 d8. only has around 1500 miles and is on his 5th motor. we all love the way they ride. But it the problem is a gamble. You never know if you are going to get a good one or a bad one. I just wish they had a answer.

Haha, you guys bragging on how reliable they are with 400 and 600 miles, seriously? Add a 1 or 2 in front of those numbers before you start piping up. 400 miles doesn't mean chit when talking about reliability. I've already ridden more than that this season only doing 40-60 miles a day.

I lost track on mine but IIRC I'm on piston #10 and 11. A PCV is what finally got my EGT's below 1300 and allowed mey to get 7 or 800 miles on my current set and still going. I also had the last set coated just for extra insurance.

OH skibreeze so now when a person states that they have 400 or 600 miles on a sled with no trouble we are bragging huh? Think again, we are saying that that is how many mile we have ridden with no issues.
