alternative to slp powder valves

I have the SLP valves in mine. It sounds like it has a 4 barrel carb on it when they kick in. When I hear that deep suction sound I know it is time to wipe the dash vents off. Mine are on the backside of the airbox (IQ) so I imagine there is some hot air coming around from the exhaust, but for the short time that they are open I would just as soon have that than no power.
