We are planning a trip to Alpine, WY for the first week of march. We are riding 5th-8th. Never been there before, but wanted to try a new area. We are staying at 3 rivers motel. A couple guys backed out so it will be just 2 of us. We have all the avy gear and know safety first. Due to this being a budget college spring break trip we dont want to pay for a guide if we don't absolutely have to. Does anyone with some knowledge of the area have some insight on if a guide is needed? Any other groups going out there at that time or locals that would want to ride together? Anyone that can help point us in the right direction as far as basic starting locations? We are fairly experienced backcountry riders and can definitely hold our own, just not familiar with the area.Looking for any steep tree riding preferably. Any knowledge you can share about the area would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Check the any conditions stop at LCC grab one of their maps then head out. A GPS is really handy cause you will be to busy riding to remember exactly where you are at. The trailhead is right down the road from LCC (Lincoln County Customs). Stay off the steep if the any conditions are high and pack gas.

North Murphy, Blind Bull, Sheep Creek loop, are a few places to start if you're riding out of Alpine, and can do alittle cyphering with maps and GPS on your own. As stated, carry fuel if your headed up the Greys River and not riding close to town. Pay attention to avy conditions. You can ride right from 3R's parking lot. You can also trailer up the Star Valley, and hit places like Willow, too.

There are great places out of Alpine to ride, most of which have been mentioned, don't forget Idaho has great riding as well. some of the best riding ive ever found are a short trailer ride away though, fortunately these areas are not talked about very much, and I don't plan on ruining that anytime soon.
