Im happy with my 165 alpha. Tahoe this winter was all deep snow. 1/2 the days I didn’t need all the track but the other deeper days it allowed me to carry more speed through the trees and maneuver the sled easier in deeper/steeper side hills which I really liked. I don’t like getting stuck either waste of time and energy.
Countless times on the 165 I could turn out of a climb before getting completely stuck have enough traction and ski lift to pull the sled on its side and continue across the slope gaining speed and finding a new line through the terrain. The 154 might do that same move but lower on the slope and way less throttle control to do it with. It turned on a dime in most powder conditions. I haven’t ridden the 154 yet. I’m around 185lb no gear.
