sorry Woodpecker didn't mean to let the cat out just love seeing other navy guys on here.
Woodpecker: I know what you are saying, but it's hard for me to say that I'm doing my part when there are guys doing things like S.E.A.L., Combat Control, Pararescue, Ranger, Recon, ect. Like right now my bro-in-law is doing his year (2nd time) in Iraq, he's a Army sniper, and I go to "work" to guard a radar. I have been thinking really hard about joining the Army (as a WO) to fly choppers. The only drawback is I now have 4 kiddos.
get that thought outa your head! your primary concern IS your wife and kids. do your time and get out. politics are bad and you don't want to get tied up in them. the longer you are around them the more you get acclimatised to them, then you decide that your family comes second. That's a road you don't want to travel. I've done some bad thing that I am NOT proud of. I now live as far away from a navel base as I can.
Be proud of your country, Be proud of your parents. Do your job to the best of your ability. RETURN home. and be the best dad, raise your kids to be proud of you and your wife. we need more good kids not dead dads. Our military is one of the most well trained in the world, lets let them all do their job. Thank you for doing your part!!! (yes It is a team effort) s.e.a.l's are useless without support teams. Last of all Be proud of what YOU do!

I pick up what you're putting down. I don't think that I could do anything else. It would be selfish on my part to leave my wife with the young'ens. I still wish that I would have done something else before I had the family.

We all wish we had done more (better,faster) before we got married. It can still be just as fun married and teaching your kids like archery (ether anyone!!)

I'm trackin'. I'll finish out my 20 years in the AF and then get out. Only 12 more to go. This is still the greatest country in the world. And don't worry Woodpecker I'll always be proud to serve no matter what job I have.

I hear ya, I've got 6 1/2 in and plan to do at least 20. I had considered going OTS or bootstrap to retire with a little more $ in my pocket, but I'm not sure I want to deal with the politics of being an O.
