AirPro Suspension Aid

I have an airpro on my YZ and Im not the least bit worried about it getting snagged. It is tucked out of the way well enough It would have to be just perfect for a branch to catch it.

Just installed airpro on a couple ktms. Nice kit, easy install and comes with everything you need

Before you all run out and pay exactly 10 x the price for this $10 commercially available valve check this out first:

https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/2-pc-1-8-in-npt-air-tank-valves/A-p0430253e

Also available at Home Depot in the US (but not Canada - as usual) Just drill and tap your fork cap out to 1/8-NPT and screw this in to each cap and it's the same thing as the $100 unit. I'm making a manifold in the middle with a little gauge which will branch out to both caps so that I can purge in the summer and charge for snow biking with just one point so that both fork legs are at the same pressure.

And before you run out and pay $10 for this valve, please know I just ordered a pair from acklands for $3.28 all in. Thanks! ( I do get a discount )

Not sure what you've got for forks but those are 1/8 npt (nominal pipe thickness/national pipe thread) they are not 1/8 inch fittings. You would need to drill and tap your $2k forks. The bleed holes on my forks are 4mm with fine metric threads.

You would not put these directly into our fork caps. Instead, make a simple manifold with two fittings and tubing branching out to each leg. Then only one of these valves goes on the manifold and you pump both forks at the same time...just like the air pro set up.

And you found these fittings somewhere?

I bought basically the same at fleet farm for $1.78 each. Drilled and tapped the fork caps and installed them. Really was not a big deal at all to modify it’s just the small cap not a $2k pair of forks! Besides it’s no different than what was there functionally and I don’t plan on removing them ever

I didn't mean to come across the wrong way just curious is all. And I get it's just the cap but most guys won't want to take the forks apart to do it. Assuming you'd do this so you don't get any metal shavings inside the fork or can you just remove the cap in place?

Basically I removed the inner fitting. On my 16 WR450F it is drilled to the side at the bottom with a tiny hole. I put a dab of grease in the bottom and warped in a round of tape. Put cap back in and drilled, tapped, and had to use a sanding drum to add a little room to the cap. Blew it off good and removed, blew out from bottom and cleaned with solvent and reinstalled to finish. I can’t imagine I got any shavings in the fork but if it did I guess I will clean them next time it’s apart for seals and oil change not too big a deal IMO

Ok cool I just thought maybe Misha found some fittings.

I did buy some elbow fittings from McMaster Carr (p.n. 5225K563) but they have M5 threads and my KTM caps have an M4 threaded hole. I will tap the caps out to M5 and tee the schrader valve to both caps with some 4mm flexible tubing. That way I don't have to monkey around with setting the pressure twice, rather set it on the manifold and both forks are the same pressure. I believe McMaster also has some push on elbow fittings with an M4 thread but I don't mind tapping the caps bigger to give the extra strength that an M5 fitting has.

I will also put a miniature gauge and one of my bleeders on the manifold to dial in the pressure exact.
