Airbox solutions

7499, hey what are u doing with your carb bleed hoses and the one from the engine on your cr? I was thinking I'd run them all to a bottle to keep them from icing up...?

also wondering on your snorkel did u hook up a snow deflector under your filter? looks like a good place for the snow to stack up on..

hosed ?

so to make a snorkle set up, where have you found that nice looking hose from the carb to the perforated pipe you cover with frogz skin ?

Mine is a 2" to 3.5" silicone adapter. I think it will work great because its not restricted like coupling to the same size pipe as the carb inlet. I looked on siliconeintakes.com but they didn't have the size ratio I needed so I found that one on eBay for like 18.00. :)

thanks sdreech

you're right, lots of options and colors on e bay, some pm's suggesting I go with a snorkel on my wr450 and new build for sure because I don't even have an air box to mod on my yz250 I'm building.

I took my 2011 yz450f out for the first time today... Lots of fresh!!!! All I did was use the outerwears pre-filter that was purchased specifically for the 2010-2013 yz450f. I also put the pre-filter Timbersled supplied over that. No issues at all except for me being a rookie! Felt bad for my buddy that had a year of riding under his belt. The only other thing I am going to do is put pre-filter material over or under the ram-air intake.... Bike ran like a champ!!!!!

450x Intake

Hey Guys,
Here is a super clean system I am working on. It fits cleanly under your seat and between the side panels. Looks OEM. Some important factors to consider are the diameter and length. The stock air box has a built in velocity stack as the intake boot. This venturi design is very important to maintain or duplicate as closely as possible or your bike will not run properly. The system I have designed closely replicates this. If you have a long 2" intake tube to your pre-filte, you will suffer performance greatly. The 2" end connecting to the throttle body should be no longer than 3" to 3 3/4", then as enlarge as you have room for, as quickly as possible, will replicate the volume and velocity required. This system is 2" for 3" in length, then expands to 3" in the shape of a venturi. The 3" pre-filter is attached via a stainless steel silicone joiner. Do "not" run a foam filter under the pre-filter. The pre-filter sucks against the foam and will glaze over reducing air flow. Run the pre-filter only, as you would on a sled.

Any chance you can make one of these slick setups for an 06 CRF450X? Looks like the ticket for sure.

I built one using the siliconeintakes.com 2-3" 45 I think, with the boondockers turbo pre filter, and it tucked up nicely in front of my rear fender under my seat, and my bike ran way better. No more issues in really deep snow with getting plugged up. I took the air box apart and used the side pieces so it looked more factory. And it was about the same price as the one you're looking at. Just make it as short as you can, and you won't look back!
P.s. I cut the 45 off the boondockers filter, so it was just long enough to slip the stainless coupler in.

What did you do with the sensor that's on the stock airbox? I have a 2014 kx450 I'm setting up this year and trying to figure out the airbox.
Thanks
