Advice for 6.0 Ford Diesel

cut my skin and I bleed Ford blue... but I was so pissed at my 6.0 liter I sold it and bought... oh crap a Dodge (I hate my Dodge a little less than the Ford):bolt:

True Ford Guy. Edge platinum and s&b cold air with mbrp duals. If u really want longevity head studs and a egr delete. Then stack ur edge with a sct livewire. I did it to mine and it turned it right around. I've got most of this stuff in stock pm for prices.

leave it alone, you start pumping up these motors and you will have problems, head gaskets, egr cooler etc. we see them everyday where I work. I have one and I have left it alone and I have had no problems

Egr delete, headstuds, and red coolant if you are going to keep it. Then chip it....SCT with custom tunes.

If it was my 6.0 I would defiantly do Eli's list and stay away from stacking chips. There is absolutely no reason to stack when you have custom tunes wrote for the truck.

For the intake stay with the stock, it flows great and filters better than an aftermarket. You can mod the plastic behind the grill to make it a true cold air intake. Go here for a write up on how to do it.

Stay with stock intake. I think it was the only thing Ford did right with the 6.0. I have a 6.0 with fresh headgaskets/studs and oil cooler. I did the egr delete, coolant filter(forgot that on the list) and red coolant. I have 97k on it and we will see how lucky I am in the next few years!

What kind of fuel milage are you guys getting doing this to the 6.0's ? Always have been told turbo problems and they wouldnt get any fuel mileage pulling a trailer :face-icon-small-con. Thanks George

like stated before need to replace head studs with arp studs, egr delete i wouldnt soup it up too much.

I get about 15mpg pulling my 27ft camper at 75 mph

sct with custom tunes is definitely the best way to go with tuning i would stay away from edge and what not and also gauges i have an edge insight works very well

4" Turbo back exhaust, Bullet Proof Diesel Oil Cooler, SCT Tuner, and a set of gauges to keep an eye on things. Depending on driving style you can expect 20 mpg running light and around 15 mpg pulling. Welcome to the club!

what he said

I was running EGR delete, arp headstuds, sct with innovative custom tunes, air dog 2, 155 injectors and a powermax, loved the setup when it ran, i am now part of the Destroked club...

uugghh... i hate when people say this.

these motors have tons of issue STOCK... "modding" these pieces of **** actually makes them better! There is a reason that the 03 and 04 6.0s almost bankrupt ford. My "advice" on this engine would be to sell it! With that all being said, these things can be very awesome trucks when done up correctly. They can make some great power and are super smooth AND can be reliable after they are built correctly. If i were to buy a 6.0 stroker the list would be as follows:

Arp headstuds, oem headgaskets, bulletproof oil cooler, custom tuned ficm, keep the stock intake system, 4" turbo back exhaust, egr delete, sct tuner with innovative diesel tunes, edge insight cts for gauges and a garret powermax.

EDIT: to answer the post specifically, i would keep the stock intake, either do a turbo back exhaust or you could straight pipe your stock 3.5" (cat delete and muffler delete) and then call Innovative Diesel and have them do some custom tunes on an sct programmer.

I put 8k into mine did the stud bolts, new egr,put coolant filter, and turbo. It still makes me worry when I take it for any distance. It kinda pulses when i have drove it for awhile down the freeway at a constant speed anyone else have it do that?
