Advancing Timing?

I thought one of the turbo guys was saying there is too much timing in the motor. Maybe for just running a turbo.

Advancing the port timing by raising the cylinders (Dynotech) is a whole lot different than changing the overall timing with a key. You'd better have some darn good gas available for the latter on a Pro!

Have FUN!

I am wondering basicly the same thing. I do subscribe to dynotech and have read the article. I am wondering if any one has run just the timing key on an otherwise stock sled? What were the results?

boondockers came out the a timing module that ups it in the lows and retards it in the high. I hear they are getting good gains with both Turbo application and stock. Helps with that pre detonation and livens up the bottom end. Three different settings

I looked on their web site and could not find any info on this product. Do you have any more information? Does it adjust just the timing or is it incorporated into one of their fuel mananment boxes?

Booondockers do offer a timing moduel for stock and turboed sleds.... it takes 5 mins to install.... the accessory plugins right above the belt gaurd... havent tried it on a stocker but on a turbo it worked GREAT!

Ok, thanks if found it on the bottom of the page. It says that is progressivey retards the timing, which would not be good for a stocker.

dynotech tested both and added a pipe. forgot who's "kit" they tested. but i thought they did use pump gas and they did see some pretty impressive gains. and they were using the stock head. although something was done to account for the shim. advancing the timing seems a little strange b/c from what i understand the pro's have pretty hot timing to start with. more so than the dragons or other motors. plus doing a straight shim changes ALL of the port timing, rather than targeting specific ports in specific ways as traditional porting does. but it is kinda hard to argue with the results they got...

Talked to Carl's and SLP about it and both said that advancing the timing without also advancing the injector timing would not be a good idea.

Not being a direct injected motor I wouldn't think fuel injection timeing would make a differance. I would think the cylinder is already filled with the air/fuel mixture long before any spark would take place. Thats and interesting thought.

Carls and SLP says no good. How much polaris know-how do you think they represent?

The Dynotech article gains needed more than timing.

timing key

i have a buddy we tried the 2.5 key on his pro and his is stock and he felt like it helped in the mid range couldnt really see any top end change but this was just using the seat of your pants dyno had no issues with det and it seemed to run really good. i have put plenty in the 10 and older updated dragons and have had good results using the 2.5 advance im gonna try the 1.5 in my pro with some comp. and on the queation about injector timing that should have no effect on that unless the flywheel signals the injectors, then it would advance the injector timing aswell and on the boondocker timing key it only retards timing no advance i talked to them about that at the snow show
