additional/aftermarket temp sensor installation

This isnt for a 900, but you guys were great with info when I had my 9, so figured I could get some good info here.. I am installing an in line temp sensor in my current sled and am wondering which water line to splice into?? Do I get the reading from the line into the motor (out of the cooler) or the one out of the motor (in to the cooler)? What line do stock sleds with temp gauges get their readings from? Anyone done this before?? Thanks

you want it in the line from the motor before the cooler, you want the temp of the water in the motor not after it has been cooled

Stock sleds have the temp sensor right in the water jacket on the head.
