Accident at Grand Lake

You know, all I did was say that this was very sad and one of the three too many Colorado sledding accidents that could have been avoided this season. I do not see anywhere that I disrespected the victims and their loved ones. If I have done so, I apologize. My heart goes out to those mourning and I do feel it as I am a local also.

If someone could please tell me what I may have said that was offensive or derogatory in any way, please let me know and I will edit my post, but after reading some PMs and my "Thanks" I feel that I have not really said anything that was offensive. To the two men that feel that they have to resort to name calling and bringing negativity into this thread I am sorry that you feel this way but instead of the name calling maybe you could have explained why you think that I was being disrespectful. Instead you lash out with no real basis to support your claim.

I apologize to the families and friends of the victims that this thread has been taken down this path, as that was never my intention. All I wanted to say was that I felt it was sad. May God be with you in these tough times and I hope that the love of your families will get you through.

RIP, Really wakes you up and realize what could happen. Love ya guys at Spirit Lake. Hope everyone is holding up.

Terrible news

Wow. I can not believe this has happened. I have been going up to Grand Lake and staying with my whole family sometimes 30 people, at elast once a year for the past 5 6 years. We have stayed at Spirit every time but once. They are a fantastic family owned business. Last January my buddy had a problem with his sled. They worked on it for over an hour and never took a dime in return. What a sad day it must be around town. these are really good people...

scotty was the man. knew him as a hard worker and always a great guy to talk sleds with. was one of the brightest happiest guys up in the GC. he will be missed. RIP Scotty.

i am completely gutted. i have been out of the country for the last 3 weeks and knew nothing of this until reading this thread. as soon as i read "a 38 yr old from spirit lake", i feared it was scotty. my heart is so sick for the whole family at spirit lake. writing this seems so feeble. he was outstanding at what he did. the most thorough and detail oriented mechanic i have ever seen at a sled shop. watching him put a new set of jugs on my sled i remember laughing to myself that he was possibly even more particular with my sled than i was....which is hard to do. far more than that, he was just a great guy. i am stunned. this injury is far more common that you might guess. i lost a friend who was skiing at breck from the same injury. he struck a tree skiing, not a single mark on him. no scratch, no bruise. just the deceleration causing the tear. godspeed scotty. you will be missed by all who knew you.
