Accident at Grand Lake

Heard and saw all the guys responding and heading towards Grand Lake today around noon. Heard it was somebody with no pulse? just wondered if anybody had heard anything? we made it pretty far into the season up there without any major accidents!

Unfortunately it was one of the guys from spirit lake, he punctured his femoral artery. Really sad to hear of a good guy going this way.

thats a hard hit for grand county folks. just reminds you it doesnt matter how much experience you have or how you ride, your next turn in the powder could be your last. at least he went out doing something he loved!

I believe his name was Scotty. I knew a couple guys up there but not him. This has been a tough season around here.

The accident was (from what I understand) between him & another guy from the shop, I'm sure today is a tough one on him as well, it's always hard to be involved in something like that

Scotty was one of their mechanics. He did the update on my sled last fall.

My thoughts are with Alan, Justin, Sam and the rest of crew at Spirit Lake.

They are all a top notch bunch and deserving of our support, especially now.

Thought & prayers To alan and the crew at spirit lake. Scotty was a nice guy to talk to... i had met him a few weeks ago and had helped me with a few issues on the sled. Sad news

Very sad indeed. That makes 3 too many (to my count this season) thus far. All could have been avoided.

DITTO! How sad. I love that shop, and send all my work there. What a hard day for them all!

"avoided"! Total lack of respect for those that died. Guess some of us are too good to die.

I meant no disrespect at all. You jump the gun yet again. Your dislike and eagerness to bash me makes you the fool.

Tragedy #1 - The passing at Rabbit Ears where the man died of CO poisoning never would have happened had he not been alone and it could have been avoided if precautions had been in place. He was a good man and was a great friend to friends of mine, not to me personally but he was in the loop.

Tragedy #2 - The passing of Chazmanian. He died of a heart attack riding alone and if he had only called a friend he would have had help and it most likely could have been avoided. He never would have "over worked" his heart. And he would have come home that fateful night. We had yet to meet but we were in the process of making plans to meet on RE once conditions were ideal for a ride.

Tragedy #3 - The Grand Lake collision. I, as a Grand County resident did not know any of these men but it hits home because I am a local. I hate to see small communities suffer a loss and chances are that I have friends that will suffer from this loss.

So, quite frankly I do not see where you coming from in the "lack of disrespect" department. I called no one names and issued no insensitive comments. I said nowhere that anyone deserved what they got and IMO if there is any lack if respect it is you, coming in here and making an accusation such as you have made, just to start a bash fest in the wake of someone's death just to satisfy your thirst to try and get a rise out of me.

Very sad r.i.p

Our thoughts and prayers go out the group at Spirt Lake and the Family.:face-icon-small-sad
