I was told there is a uprade that you can get from cat to set it to all dc or ac one of the two to support all the power draw from the gauges and extra fuel pump and oil pump :face-icon-small-tonis this true thanks for any help

Is this necessary? i just bought a '09 m-8 sno-pro BD PG turbo. I am running EGT's, A/F guage, oil pump and EBC...along with stock guages. What about removing one of the headlights or both to help out with draw? Or am I missing something???

my buddy needed it to run his afr gauge it wouldnt power it without then plugged that in and away he went

I put one on mine sled and then used the power supply off the fuel pump power from the ecu to run my afr. works great. Sorry I don't have the part # off hand but it is in some older post's .:face-icon-small-hap

I believe there is a kit from cat to run an 07-08 CCU on the 09-11 to get all the 12 VDC power you need for your pumps and guages. I don't know the part number. I know OVS sells them. I would assume some of the more knowledgable Cat dealers also have a part number.

Good luck!

I don't have the part number in front of me but be sure not to use it in a BD kit which has their fuel booster system...that runs off the AC output of the accessory port and the DC kit turns the whole harness to DC and therefore you would not have the FUEL BOOST!

sorry Im getting you confused, I had to add the converter to add the cutler high volume fuel pump on my 09

pretty sure I didn't have a converter on our 09 that had the cutler high volume pump, and gauges... but we didn't ever run lights?

Odd. Never heard of someone needing them on the 09, just the 2010.

I have a friend that is running the cat dc converter on a 09 m8 you have to to handle an aux pump and aem guage bd gets away with it by using a egt to my understanding anyway

The 07-08 had the big DC converter to mostly run the shift motor for the diamond drive reverse. It is really a problem to have AC and DC based on the same lighting coil, so I suspect that Cat just made the DC converter big enough to run everything including lights and warmers.

When they went to the engine reverse(09-11) then the big DC converter was not needed for the reverse actuator and Cat went back to using an AC circuit with a much better regulator than was found on the M7s. It puts out a small amount of 1/2 wave DC for the APV servo motor.

For the guys with external fuel and oil pumps you need some sort of DC converter. A lot of guys like the CCU from cat cause it's nice, beefy, and almost plug and play.

do need it

If I remove my headlights and don't run a a/f gauge will I have to have it? How will I know if it will or won't if I try it withouy
