AC 1100T vs TNytro

So i haven't seen one thread on this. I was looking into a nytro with the 180 kit but now im puttin that on hold because of the cat. I know it kinda early to tell but.........What does everyone think
Is Yamaha still gonna be number one with boosted 4strokes?

who knows

Reliability is the only thing to say at this point!!!!!! No one knows how well the AC is going to hold up. Just ask any arctic cat fan and it will be the best, you know they just reinventeded four strokes. I'm tired of all those guys thinking that cat is the only four stoke to be worth a darn when Yamaha has been around four stroke sled for ten successful years now. Don't get me wrong, I hope the AC is a performer, its all going to go four stroke in a matter of time anyhow.

Once we get some snow you might be able to get an honest answer but at this point in time it's too early to tell. On paper the nytro 180 is superior, but I know that Racin Station said that the M1100T will beat the Nytro 180. I would be interested in a larger test pool than one incident. I appreciate him providing us with his insight though.

All said and done I have no loyalty to either brand. I just can't go back to 2-strokes...the 1100t is the only sled that might get me off my nytro, but only time will tell! :)

I think push come to shove the yami will make more reliable hp. D&D already has over 500hp on there drag cat motor so it can make the power. Im selling my Nytro to buy the cat myself. More excited with the chassis than anything. Should liven up the 4stroke smack talk either way:boxing:

At this point it's a wait and see. Kudos to cat, their lay down twin 2 stroke has been very reliable over several years. I am very impressed they have made the commitment to 4 stroke technology. It would have been easy to jump on the (all new lightest sled ever band wagon) and save production costs shelving reliable boosted 4 stroke power. I hope Cat does well, and Yamaha answers back with factory boosted sleds.:face-icon-small-ton

C'mon Polaris and Doo,get a dog in the fight, nowhere to go but up and up and up!!!!!:face-icon-small-win

i was spying on the cat threads earlier and there is a thread on this over there!! something about a tnytro vs 1100t with a barker kit on it?

p.s. there is a lot of hate between those cat guys!! glad im here with the "sane" people!!

We will have a little shootout when the snow gets rideable. I have both ready to go. My Nytro is going to be closer to 200 than 180, but that shouldn't be a big deal. I am pretty unbiased. I have been working with the Nytro and believing in it since 2008. The biggest advantage the Cat has is the chassis, but we all know that the reliability of the Yamaha power plants speaks for itself.

I am a yamaha guy - and soon to be Nytro turbo owner (snow check turbo kit).

Cat has been working on these sleds since AFTER the Nytro was out. This is the fifth model year for the Nytro right? The stock NA Cat should blow the stock nytro out of the water (NA sled vs NA sled) and be around 20-25 lbs lighter. Anything else is a failure in my eyes for Cat as far as the NA sleds go.

For the turbo sleds - same deal. 180hp boosted sleds will lend to a lot of comparisons. The ones that I am most interested in are handling in tight trees, fueled up weight, and total range.

Which one goes through the trees the best? which one is lighter? and which one goes the farthest on a tank of fuel? (which one is more or less 5 years newer and should win this going away.....)

I think I know the answer to the above three questions, but I still went with the Yamaha this year. I am not interested in first year sleds, and I trust Yamaha/MPI to last the 5k,6k (or more) miles that I plan to put on this sled.

The article that Snowest did really didn't seem to lean stronger either way. They seemed to like both for different reasons.

They did say that the n/a Nytro seemed to have a noticable power advantage to the Cat. So I don't know that you could say either way.

Until they make a Cat that isn't orange or green I won't be buying one.

as for the weight issue. I was at the cat dealer the other day looking at the new 4 stroke. I called My yami dealer and asked for the ready to ride weight. a nytro with 3 gallons of gas and all oils in 513lbs, and the cat 1100 ready to ride full of fuel is 560lbs. So fill that nytro tank up the rest of the way and the weight is just below the cat. but lacking the extra weight of a turbo. so i think the nytro and a/c 1100 weights will be pretty much the same.

I think your dealers numbers may be a little off - American Snowmobiler weighed the 2011 Nytro 153 with a full tank of fuel and a spare belt and it came in at 601. Add some lbs for the 162 and the turbo/supercharger kit of your choice. Most of the hanging scales that I have seen on this forum for Nytros with Turbos have been 630-640 - someone please chime in with pics showing otherwise.

There are some threads in the Cat section right now discussing and argueing weights of the 1100t - from what I gather the Cat will weigh ~565 dry and 663 full of all fluids. There are enough of them out now we should see some pics of it on a scale by this weekend.

Your yami dealer is wrong. The dry weight on a nytro is more like 553lbs

I don't really care which sled will beat which as long as I on my nytro can beat the other guy on his whatever it may be. Every one is always comparing sleds on here, there are some great sleds that I can't ride to save my life. Rider ability has more to do with it than what color it is.

dyno # for the na cat1100 are a little less than the na nytro not unless cat has upped them this year.the higher reving tripple will make more hp than the twin but the lower reving twin will make more tork although the cat has 50cc more so it will be close.was not impressed with the fit & finish on the white cat they had here tunnel looked like somebody used a can of paint & you need to get the tool kit out to take the hood off wtf:face-icon-small-shothe chassi felt good to stand on though.

I had a chance to ride the AC Turbo 1100 last week. I think its gonna make a great sled. I'm sure the after market will come alive and it will only get better and better. The chasis has a better feeling than a stock Nytro imo and was easier to ride on the setup snow we had compared to the Nytro. It doesn't feel like a big weight up front like the Nytro does for me. It is very quiet !

The fit and finish is crap ! Bumpers that bend when you touch them, melting side panels, and broken front hoods from light riding is what i observed over 3 days. I have heard of few being heli'd/towed out due to a fuse (electrical problems ?).

Also the reverse has a recall already because it doesn't go back to forward very easy. Sits there and grinds. Add the fact AC totally dropped the ball and supplied no belts in Canada which ticked a lot of people off, because they were riding a new mountain machine in the hills with no spare. Our machine had no belt issues although i did smell it burning in the clutches when stuck LOL !

I think it is a noble first effort on Cats part ! Better than Polaris's FST toilet they had a few years back LOL. That was the best sounding lawnmower ever !!!

I drove a stock m11 turbo on sunday for maybe 10 minutes. Now it wasnt much seat time, and my nytro is far from stock (skinz front, impulse 270, 162 power claw, timbersled rear), i prefer the nytro big time. This is first year on a yamaha and I used to run only cats, but the nytro would carve so much easier. If I had more time I might enjoy it more but quick comparo. I do know that the impulse gets old after awhile with the noise. The cat was nice and quiet.
