A few MTX Clutch weight questions

Gonna run some mtx weights this year on my 09 assault. Just wondering how you go about tuning these weights? where to you want to run most of the rivit weight in the tip or belly? are all mtx weights weights the same profile? (65g-68g) If so then a 65g with 2 3g rivits should perform the same as a 68g with 2g in the tip and 1g in the belly?

It should help you.

Flyweights

• Use to control RPM’s – more weight = less RPM’s
• Heel (close to pin) weight affects beginning of shift (slow speeds)
• Toe weight affects end of shift (high speeds)
• More heel weight = better low speed (crawling)
• More toe weight = better high speed

Also remember to double-check your belt to sheave clearance when/after installing the MTX's as their different profile (taller heel) "tightens up" the clearance compared to the 10 series weights that came stock in your sled.

on the mtx weights..every gram in the tip is worth about 100 rpm..every gram in the belly is worth about 50 rpm...on the poo 800 cfi motors I have found they like 1 gram less in the tip then the belly(IE 2 grams belly- 1 gram tip)it allows a better upshift while still allowing the machine to pull max rpm's...also normally the mtx's will tighten the belt side clearence up from .50-.60 to .10-.20 clearence...slp does this on purpose to fix the as shipped stock polaris setup...I run 68 gram (without rivits installed) weights from sea level up to 8000 ft with just rivit changes.....

weights

I just installed the mtx 68 gram weights about a week ago, made sure they were all equally balanced, then took the secondary and primary to get balanced with the weights in the primary (2 grams in tip & 1 gram in the heel). AKSNOWRIDER recommends this for sealevel. Last season my only clutching mods were Carls 62-42 .40/60-40-.40 helix and the team green spring (150-340) and was pulling 8250 rpms with a stock pipe. So Ill adjust weights if needed to get to 8250-8300 rpm. Then who knows, Ill probably end up getting the slp pipe set also and clutch for the pipe to get the rpms up in the 8400-8450 range. Thats whats cool about these weights, I can adjust the rivets to control my rpm's instead of having to install different weights for mods and/or elevation changes. Also, buying rivets is a whole hell of alot cheaper then buying different weights.

Agreed, the problem comes in when you don't have time to check the clearance after hurriedly installing the MTX's, after the clearance has been tightened up for the 10 series, just wanted to bring it to the o/p's attention
