A Arm fell apart, Polaris won't cover

I am a pretty die-hard Polaris guy...but does anyone else think it's funny that their advertising doesn't seem to jive with actuality?????

I mean, if you advertise a new technology being incorporated into the building of a part on a sled that NEVER had any issues to begin with...does it seem odd to the rest of you that after that technology has been used the part of the sled now has failure issues? That's what really pi$$es me off here...bring on new technology...BUT only if it truly strenghthens/makes the particular part in question better:face-icon-small-fro

a arm

The technology they are using has been well proven in the aerospace industry. That being said, the aerospace industry has the quality control system to make a design like this work and work well EVERY time. I have a feeling that Polaris has quality control issues that make technology of this kind more of a hinderance to them rather than an advance. Bonds of this type require a great deal of attention to detail during prep and assembly. I have seen this type of thing happen countless times in the industry. A part like this looks very simple and easy to manufacture but in reality very subtle variations in assembly prep, cleaning and assembly can be disasterous.

a arms

the biggest problem is they glue a painted steel tube into a smooth almost polished part with nothing to let glue bond to if the ribbed or knurling the metal. It might hold but not a painted steel tube and a smoothed finished hub. I talked to the guys at Polaris last year about this and they told me their engineers know what there doing and the glue is not going to be a problem. Now I am not an engineer by any means but I do make a lot of suspension parts and have a good idea of what kind of force gets put on a a arms. I also have been dealing with many types of epoxy over the years and know it doesn't like to stick to painted surfaces or smooth metals that is why you scuff if up or make places for it to build up and hold onto. You don't need and engineering degree to figure that out -just common sense.

Why do you feel the need to comment on this? If you don't like the sled that's fine, you don't have to ride one. I read through the proclimb section and read about guys blowing a drive belt in under 100 miles and you don't see me over there commenting on what pieces of junk they are. Then I go to the xm side and read about not being able to hold rpm, and the occasional tmotion breaking, once again I'm not over there commenting. You act like polaris is the only ones have problems but I hate to break it to you, they're not.

This is the Poo Pro section, Why would I come here btch about the Cat or the XM issues? I do btch plenty over in the Proclimb section about how lame the Proclimbs have been!

I'm here btching about this issue because I feel it's kind of an important and highly dangerous one! In addition to that, I'll say it AGAIN! I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO BUY A PRO IF IT WOULD HOLD TOGETHER! AND NOT FORCE ME THE WARRANTY AND SLED OWNER TO BUY NEW REPLACEMENT PARTS OR PAY FOR HOSPITAL BILLS FROM CRASHING WHEN THE A-ARM FALLS APART!!!

Cat's lame clutches or the Doo's 4-5 broken skids don't really have the potential of killing someone!

The glued A-arms are not working!

Unfortunately "common sense" is non-existent these days! It's been replaced by all knowing computer programs & smart phones

That's just asinine. I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to buy another Polaris. I just felt that since they already had a recall on the arms they would take care of it. It seems your dealer didn't step up in the first place and Polaris made their mind up.

I have the Zbroz arms and got a great deal from BostonRacing on them. I never rode a single mile with the stockers but that was because I wanted my X1's from my 2011 to work on my 2013 so I did new a-arms and sold the OEM's. Good luck.

How dare you say anything bad about Polaris!:face-icon-small-sho You probably dodged a bullet buy getting rid of the JUNK glued A-arms.:mmph:

If just a couple of you guys would grow a set and take this company to court MAYBE they would make more of these claims right. If it was me I'd call my dealer to have him inform Polaris if they don't cover this you'd have no other choice but to take them to court. If they don't jump, sue them..... What the hell do you have to lose beside some time invested.

I'm not into suing companies over nothing... But come on somebody has to hold their feet to the fire.

Or you can just let them keep on wearing their favorite T-Shirt... I'll bet they all wear these under their suits & ties!!

This is the same thing I'm saying but with the word JUNK instead.

If they just keep buying this stuff and not btching about it, NOTHING WILL CHANGE!

Why would Polaris change anything? They have a perfect thing going on here!

Warranty? Deny, DENY, DENY!!!!!

I think we pretty much got it now.. :face-icon-small-win And you're shouting..... a lot.. :director:

Be cool, winter is coming.

I know I'm yelling. It's like talking to a brick wall in here.:face-icon-small-win

It has been a loooong very hot summer!

I guess Polaris customer's don't have to worry about parts being on B/O, because no one buys their parts just the aftermarket people making money there.:face-icon-small-dis

Seriously, WHY DO YOU EVEN CARE?
Keep riding your dinosaur and keep pretending its the best thing ever made.:face-icon-small-win

I guess I'll just never understand why somebody who doesn't even own a pro needs to argue and make a fool of himself like this. If you owned a pro and this happened to you it would be understandable. This is the kind of stuff that makes me not want to come on the forum. To the OP, I hope it works out good for you. Sorry for your thread being derailed.

How about drilling a hole or two and putting in a couple of rivets? Joint will still be weak if the glue fails, but may save it from coming apart and wrecking a shock.

I think someone had a fix last season where they drilled the lower stock arm and used roll pins to ensure there wouldn't be any separation, seemed viable?

I've explained it twice in this thread already. You and RMS must might not have been able to hear my yelling. Sorry about that.

I don't ride by myself, and guess what sled all but 2 or 3 of the 20 guys I ride with ride? You guessed it! They ride Pro's. All but 2-3 of those Pro's have had 1 or 2 or all three of the Poo issues. And I'll say it again for you and RMS... I'd like to buy one if the dang thing wouldn't fall apart under normal riding conditions.:face-icon-small-con Not to mention the warranty deniel process that would kill me getting that news! I'd go postal on some Polaris rep or dealer or maybe even some of my riding buddies that some how got luck and did get the same issue warrantied!:mmph:

Just go away. You are clearly aggravating everyone here. Everyone else is trying to help the guy with the problem.

No I don't think I will. I have the same right to post here as you.

The way I see it is I am helping here. I am keeping this thread at the top and making people think about Polaris' durability issues and the lack there of, also the lack of consistent warranty claims and denial processes.

You guys that are hating on me, on the other hand are not helping the OP in his warranty process at all.... ZERO! Unless you have some A-arms and shock for the OP? you can't help him one bit. He has done everything he can trying to get his sht replaced under warranty.

P.S.

RMS, Not a whole lot of your Poo buddies are going to agree with your thumbs down opinion! All of them but you have given me multiple thumbs downs! I've also got exactly the same amount of thumbs ups on this thread!
