94 Xlt 600 boggin and going through coolant

Hey yall Im new here and just had a old indy given to me this summer Iv had it out a few times already but today was a nightmare its goin through coolant and shows no sign of it on the plugs or any leaks it overheats and when i stop to shut it off when the light comes on the cooant res tank is full and neither of the coolers are warm so I put some coolant from the res back into the head and let it idle with the cap fliped open and its fine again but then 10 mins later i smell coolant and it starts boggin out so open the hood and look and its full to the top again and it keeps shooting out when its reved up:face-icon-small-sad any help is much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Jeff

I already had that issue it was seeping out of the end cylinder on the pto side so I went and spent 50 bux on 3 orings and a little rubber gasket biggest ripoff ever thanks for the thought tho :)

If your saying shooting out of the coolant bottle when you rev it up, you have compression from the engine going into the cooling system. Base or head gasket's or a cracked cylinder or head.

Well I just did a sniffer test and it came out clean could it maybe be the new rad cap I put on?? its a 16lb with the flipper on top does anyone know what cap this sled calls for?

Jeff

That sounds about right for the cap. You may have a water pump issue if the coolers aren't warm. It could be the belt is too loose or broken or the pump is not working at all. You could also have an air bubble in the cooling system so the antifreeze is not circulating.

OK thanks for the replies yall I think we got it figured out, small very small crack on rad spigot on head that wouldnt leak with the pressure tester but leaked after it saw some heat and a worn out hose clamp on the big hose on waterpump that I just missed the first time around so I think it was loosing enough coolant to cause a bubble then overheat and I found out this sled calls for a 21 lb cap so I need to find an inline cap setup from a 95 to get that old brass spigot off the head. Thanks again and happy new year!!
