Elephants Never Forget

23thls.gif

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .
On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.
He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.
Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenage son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.
Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.
Probably wasn't the same elephant.
This is for all of my friends who send me those heart-warming bull**** stories.

good post darrell!!!:beer;:D it seems some people get their panties in a bunch over stuff they shouldnt!

I like the story, but I don't forward anything. The elephant story is funny though too!:)

edit- I can't stand e-mails that tell me to forward crap. (no matter what the subject is)

I guess I'm not in the 93% cause I don't forward anything myself. But I think it was a good post T/A.

Remember, Christians are not perfect.
They're just forgiven.

Thanks for the red somebody. You forgot to sign it though...guess you'll get forgiven for that too and not have to worry about it. Nice strategy. Come on, give me another you weasel.

i got red too. the lord seen you do that you know and how long are going to live with yourself for sending unsigned red rep. come clean and tell the truth. actully i do know who you are and will pay back tomarrow, you won't be green for a little while after i slap you

Unsigned red rep.

Yep, I'm so there. Come on, show yourself. Someone said I shouldn't have commented in the first place, well, clearly I'm a statistic as I'm in the assumed 7% of non-forwarders, so I figured my voice should be heard. Sorry, if you don't like it, don't read it....oh wait, that's what you said.

Srry T/A didn't mean to imply you shoved this down our throats, after all this IS fouled plug and most anything goes. I was talking about Emails and other venues.

So preach it on brother, if someone doesn't like they don't gotta click it!

If this was titled 'Praise Jesus' or something we would have left it alone...but it looked and sounded exactly like the jokes that get posted here every week; and after that long a read the lack of a funny didn't help.

Actually, snopes says only 20% of people forward it. :)

It would have been a nicer story if it had ended with telling the truth, would keep you from being a slave to your lies. You don't have to be religious; to do the right thing or to have learned from this story.

So, grandma equated her granddaughter with Satan?

Exactly! You don't have to be religious to be m.o.r.a.l.
