i was wondering, does the design of these carbs make them prone to giviing a guy crap? mine have the mains in the bottom of the bowl and then there is a pickup tube with o-ring that feeds the needle jet. it seems like every time this sled is pounded hard i have to clean them. they look clean and the tank is clean and the inline fuel filter is good. i'm thinking of replacing them with the standard mikuni carbs. i was wondering if anyone knew of inherent quirks with this design and could give me a hint. i'm a good mechanic and understand carbs and 2-stroke engines. maybe someone could give me a hint. maybe they're crap, maybe i'm over looking something. :beer;:beer;

carbs

fuel lines are a year old. all redone. i think i figured it out. i had the carbs off today and figured the normal cleaning was not enough. i noticed there was a fine shelac, kinda stain in the bowls and the upper body. with a small screwdriver it would come off. so i broke out the steel wool and a pick and the screwdriver and polished the inside of these carbs. about an hour on each one. i think this will do it. quite a bit came off. i believe when we hard pounded the sled some would flake. carb cleaner would not clean it off. what can the home mech buy that is strong enough to soak carbs in to clean them? theres gotta be something. what do pro shops use? thanks:beer;:beer;

The best stuff i have found so far is the honda brand carb cleaner ....works really well spray it in and let it soak for a bit i have seen carbs the were completly green inside after using that stuff they were like brand new inside

cleaner

any napa store will have a gallon of stuff i use called chem dip part #0901 and costs around 25 to 30.00...is a great cleaner but you want to use rubber gloves it burns the ol skin a bit...
