900 polaris crank Kit.

Haven't measured them... xtreme sits just about as high on the secondary as the Poo belt did.... that's the only measurement I did besides laying them on top of each other to make sure they're close... lol

Really though, it grabs well and hasn't slipped much. I manage to get a bit of snow in my clutch area and still haven't felt/noticed it slipping. Doesn't leave as much rubber on the sheaves as the 080's either.

Might have to have Mountainhorse try one, seems he's always the deciding factor...lol:D hear that Eric......

yes the new polaris crank is that size and yes you do get all those parts in the kit. got the new crank in the bottom of my new 900/1200 and it work great. i am not so sure that it did not take some of the vibration out of it to only got it on the mountain once and my hands did not hurt at the end of the day.

This new crank deal from Polaris is intriguing...anyone have a part number??

I never said that the crank wasn't 32mm, but I think I would rather have the 33mm crank versus the 32mm. I went through 2 900 motors last year and paid 900.00 for the crank, bearings and rods as an assembled kit not with the clutch, belt, clutch bolt, gaskets and seals. I'm gonna get ahold of my Polaris dealer and get the skinny on this because if that is so then I got screwed. I just don't see how you can get for example a belt 180.00, clutch which would include the bolt for at least a minimum of 400.00, seals and gaskets which all together probably don't equal more than 40.00, so you mean you can get a loaded crank, newer, updated with bearings and rods ready to drop in for about 300.00 I still don't believe it, pistons are 112.00 per kit, I still have all the receipts from my rebuilds, so am I really getting screwed or whats the deal? so please elaborate.

I find it hard to believe that you can get all of that for $900.00 considering Polaris quoted me $900.00 for just the crank, and 32mm? Isn't Indydan's a 33mm? I still think Indydan's is the way to go, thinking price wise you can't get all the factory parts, crank, clutch, belt, bolt and gaskets for $900.00 the price is double that, now you can get all that for I believe $1995.00 threw Indydan and thats assembled because case work more than likely will need to be done in this instance and will be done right by someone who nows their chit and Indydan's 3 year warranty you will not get from Polaris maybe a 6 month warranty max so as said above Indydan would be the best way to go.

I know it is hard to believe but Polaris is not making the small PTO end crank anymore. I ordered a crank not too long ago and all these parts came in a "kit".

Part # for the kit is 2203617, MSRP is $992.24

Thanks for the part number Super Dave3. I'm gonna give them a call tomorrow. When did you get this deal? I did one complete 900 motor in feb. and one in june on both of my 06 900's. Guess I got the shaft and for the years I've done business with them it just pisses me off a bit, didn't mean to come uncorked on you guys it just sounded to good to be true.:beer;

Thanks for the part number SuperDave!!

Nelson, before you flip out on your dealer, I've seen things like this in the automotive field before. Chrysler having HUGE transmission troubles in the 90's was selling reman trans' for $1,800 for the longest time and then out of nowhere the price dropped to $745. I don't know if it was "goodwill" for a crap product or if someguy found a warehouse full of stuff and said, holy$hit, let's get rid of this stuff! Sometimes, the price gets entered into the master computer incorrect and it goes on for a few months and then it's Houston, we have a problem.

Wasn't there an oversize crank that was suppose to go into production for 07 that never made it???

My crank was backordered last year and I didnt get "kit" untill July.
I did not expect to recieve all those parts but that is what Polaris is doing now. All I can figure is you must of got the last of the smaller PtO end cranks.

You also made mention of pistons, these are not in the kit.

Yes you are correct about the 07 crank.

Yes I did mention the pistons as a kit but not included in your kit they are seperate I know. I was just using them as a comparison to the broken down price, sorry for the confusion. Yeah I did get the smaller PTO kit obviously because I used my primary, just spent the money to have it balanced and cleaned with a good look over by Carls Cycle, but my dealer never mentioned there was a larger kit available. Deal is that the owner of the Polaris dealer here had a heart attack and past away and his wife decided when she took it over to fire everyone she didn't like and let her kid run the store with all his buddies and naturally he doesn't know jack about snowmobiles and you have to pretty much take matters into your own hands and tell them what to look up on the computer to get any parts basically without part numbers they are left scratching their heads which is why I ended up with the smaller crank and not knowing anything about the larger crank. That was a hell of a deal and I feel like I spent un-needed money since this kit is available.

Nelson,

You didnt get ripped off... just bad timiing... the cranks were updated to the bigger ends just recently this year... and the kits got less expensive.

The larger cranks were NOT available when you needed to buy your crank.

The smaller cranks are no longer available... even with the part number...unless the dealer has the NOS crank on the shelf.

You wont get any kind of refund on it.... kind of like a computer ... sometimes they actually get less expensive.

Again... in Feb and June of 2008 when you ordered ... these new complete kits were NOT available to anyone/anywhere.

I found that part # online it is $823 at one place and $1087 at another. One place does list it as the 866 large taper. But it doesn't say it comes with a clutch. It just list parts 5 thru 9 on the parts pic. It does say crankshaft kit.

Yeah I got ahold of the dealer today and they apologized. Mountainhorse you are correct these kits were not available when I needed them. One of my 06 900 Dragons we had put the smaller crank and pistons in and the other 06 Dragon I had the crank welded both new owners of my Dragons today have had zero problems with them and love how they run about 800 miles on one and 250 miles on the other after complete rebuilds. I just wish these larger cranks were available sooner.

part #

gave that number to 2 dlrs and both told me it was a stock replacement for 06 and my old clutch fits it . also that it was the crank only. no clutch seals or belt. also told me since it was a 900 crank no warrenty . good support here . Indy dan got back with me tho and I believe i will spend the extra money and trust him over dlrs that have no idea what they are talking about. Thank you all for the input . much appreciated. D

Can someone explain how to measure the crank "run-out"?
and concerning vibration, what would be an acceptable amplitude on idle ? (at the top of the engine)
I can see mine vibrating on idle, but got no idea if it's too much or not.

found this in the 07 service manual. seems easy to check: video

I had the one with 800 miles, now 2488, and I couldn't be happier! Not at all disappointed, but now the crank split and needs new goodies! The sled ran like a raped ape from day 1 that I bought it from Josh. Props to him he knows how to build a sled!
