900 getting pulled out

well just to let you know, it is a snap-on compression tester.

alright started taking it out today i took some pics but my dumb sister is on the other computer so ill put some on later. Do i need to take off my throttle bodies to take the engine out?? Also how the hell do you remove the coolent hoses from in back??? i can move it just a bit. OHHH and i found out my i blew a belt, on the chaincase side rear mount there supose to be a bolt right? LOL well mine didnt have one no idea were it went, i remember it being there last year so i dunno.

You should remove the TBs, it is pretty simple if you have an FBF cable, if not I think you might be able to get away with not removing them.

The coolant hose on the rear is easiest to remove from the bottle itself. Might have to take the bottle off and jiggle it a bit. They are a major pain in my arse!

With that bolt missing I would guess it may have helped pooch your mounts as well as the belt.

have you made it to the wiring yet??? How the H do you get the connections off from the stator and that crap? I assume you unplug it all at the big connections up behind the coolant/oil tank rather than down at the motor which looks impossible to get to.

Once you remove the oil reservoir and the fuel tank, the wiring connectors aren't too terrible to access.

Coolant and oil bottle don't have to come off. Fuel tank and throttle body will and you have to disconnect the throttle and oiler cables anyway so after that it's just the two band clamps and coolant hoses. There are two wire bundles behind the motor that have to be disconnected (stator connections I believe). Its easier if you take the rear botls and bottom two on the front mount then you can rotate the engine forward a little to disconnect the stuff behind it. I did this on the install also and it made it super easy.

Alright boys and girls got that monster out of there, it was pretty easy. lol easier then i thaught, had a hard time with those fuel lines must be a special tool? well heres some pics ill take it apart tomorow when i get back from school.

WOW seems like my pics are to big and this site wont alow it, i try to make them smaller yet it says its still to big? how do i fix this?

Give Photobucket a try, it's free and really easy to use... no upload size limits like attaching pics.....

alright i got that sucker taken apart, looks like i dont have stock pistons, they look like 06 pistons but they say made in austria inside?? i got some pics, also mount on pto side is toast. the o-rings on the head are melted, let me know what you think about the cylinders if there good or not.

also, to take the stator off, is it a splinned or key way or what? like to take it off is there any way to mark it for timming??

the picture of the piston, at the bottom its a reflection of the table, also how do you clean the reed vavles?

The flywheel is keyed and the stator is not adjustable (meaning no slotted mounting holes), so don't worry about timing issues. As far as the reeds, personally, I take the pedals off the cage and clean the whole works in hot soapy water then rinse with clean hot water. I'm sure others have their own methods, but that's mine.

Coolant and oil bottle don't have to come off. /QUOTE]

I can't speak for the '05's, but on the '06, you may get the engine out with the bottles in place, but why ??? It's only a couple extra fasteners to take them off the sled and makes the whole job a lot easier. To quote a mechanic I worked with years ago "Work smarter, not harder".

The back hose on the coolant bottle can be a pain so why work harder not smarter? Just have a chance of breaking something else by removing it for no reason. Your choice.

And you can clean the bottles up real good while they're off! But it is a little late in the season for that lol
