850 Oil line came off. Thoughts...

So does anyone know if the bog has anything to do with the center crank bearings? My Assault has bogged about 4 or 5 times and a respected member in another forum has stated that this is the first thing that happens before the machines lock up. I don't want my riding friends to have to help me get this thing out of the bush. Just could not put them through that.

i was at my local dealer today they have three 850s with oil line coming off in the shop. all three will get new cranks. So Glad i backed out of my snowcheck ill get one next year. they sold 70 so 3 out of 70 isnt bad.

This is why Pol. Ind. keeps selling sleds. People actually think that 4% fail rate isn't bad. :face-icon-small-con

Lol. Six years on Polaris never had one in the shop. Bought an alpha this year and it’s been in the shop twice, doesn’t matter what brand you buy they all have problems. First year models always have issues. The 850 is a sweet ride kills me not to have one i just got sucked into all the alpha hype.

Being you don’t pee green, what did you think of the Alpha when it did run?

You know I’m not going to lie. The more I ride it the more I like it. At first I couldn’t stand the thing it trenched in deep snow I couldn’t get the front end to stay down it bogged every time the intakes got covered with snow. I couldn’t get use to the monorail I kept over riding it. Once I got the suspension set up too my ride weight it stopped trenching and I could control the front end. I added some extra air vents to stop the bogging and have finally found the sweet spot on the monorail. It’s an awesome machine but with that said when I ride it side by side with the 850 I find myself with buyers regret. The lightweight and ridged feel of the Axys platform with the torque of the 850 motor and the transfer of the suspension with the 2.6 track makes the 850 a dream to ride it just jumps up on the snow. Cat has a winner and I’m sure it will get better each year.

EDIT: ^^ It wont let me quote, but anyways, I'm willing to bet once the dust settles Arctic Cat will have yet again pioneered the future for our suspension with a very innovative idea. I for one am stoked to see this monorail succeed.

When the AXYS 800 motor came out it saw quite the improvement over the last three 800 motors produced by PI in regards to performance and durability. Some would call that a step in the right direction.

Spent 2 weeks in Canada riding highly frequented spots, saw more failures on other sleds and had 6 850's in our group alone. All running great. All of us from around the nation driving to Canada.

Point is, any person can see different results. I know Cat guys that b**** and moan about Cat and missing weekends. I know Doo guys that b**** and moan about Doo and missing weekends.

Polaris doesn't have a great reputation for building durable motors but it's not like the other brands have a great reputation for every aspect of their snowmobile either.

People are acting as if Polaris buyers have blinders on and Cat/Doo buyers don't. Such double standards in most of these threads by folks who don't own an 850 Polaris.

Or on the flip side, posted by people that have never owned a Cat or a Doo... Until you have, you may not realize just how bad Polaris quality is... I rode Polaris for years, switched to Cat for a few years, got suckered back into Polaris for a few more new sleds, lots of bad experiences and back to Cat. Hmmmm no bad experiences on my sled again, must be coincidence? You may think so but my experience is that Polaris sleds do have more issues than the rest by a measurable amount. Up to 35 failed in the poll now, never seen anything like that from Cat or Doo...

I don't think so. Buddies bogs because he feathers the throttle too much and then when he slams the flipper it falls on its face. I think he is loading the crankcase with fuel and then it all hits the spark plug when tries to whack the throttle.

I think by now EVERYONE who has wasted time reading your useless posts, knows you don't like Polaris and absolutely LOVE the cat you ride. That's cool Bro . . . we get it! :)

Seems like time might be better spent out riding than trolling this part of the forum . . . ?

I HAVE had Cat. Absolutely loved my M7. It wasn’t until they got away from that chassis that I switched. BUT, everyone we rode with had issues. My Dad’s sled was breaking clutches in half, and wearing them out if they didn’t break incredibly quick. He loved that sled though even with the problems.

Fact is, I can waste some of my time and LITERALLY find a rebuttal case against every manufacturer on the internet. I’m going to refrain cause I’m headed out with some clients but I’ll leave it at this, I loved my days on Arctic Cat and I am loving my days on Polaris, I own multiple for my business and since 2011 I have had 2 engine related warranties. Water pump, and exhaust valves. Zero blown engines. And I do roughly 2500 miles a year on my personal sled alone. All mountain riding.

But I guess I’m lucky haha. Have a great weekend. Hope you get some riding in.

I rode three days this week, how much did you ride? How much effort do you put into trying to run me off? I know the truth must be burning your wee wee like a mad case of VD otherwise you wouldn't insist on doing so...

Well here is a challenge for you then. I don't want you to refute every case, just this one. Find me a poll where a new model from Cat, or Doo has had the failures this new 850 Polaris has. Just checked the poll, 36 sleds down, the number climbs everyday. Just go ahead and make good on your claim. When was the last time any manufacturer lost this many motors on a new introduction? Oh wait, probably Polaris with the 800 Dragon, or maybe the 900 fusion. NO other manufacturer has had such a poorly built product line in recent memory, unless of course you can find that example as you claim...

What have been the two issues with your Alpha?

Cool! Good job on the riding!

I don't want to run you off. You have ruined your credibility here, and no longer have anything useful or meaningful to add to the conversation. I was suggesting you move along, so you perhaps could find some who might be interested in hearing what you have to say . . . that's all :)

So you want me to find a thread that has multiple engine failures for another brand?

36 failures? Like the crank/rod failures Doo had in 2017 with the G4 motor?

Or you want me to find a specifically a poll?

2007, 800r doo
2012, cat
2017, G4
Can’t produce any stats on polls, but anyone that has spent more time on the hills than in front of their keyboard knows what I am talking about.

Lol.
You forgot a few years in your list!

2007 800r wins by a mile. I probably got more miles on mine than most. It blew up at 1600. Cats old 700 of the 90s would probably put the whooping on that. I think the cranks were out of spec from factory. Couldn't keep a clutch in them. 36 sleds isn't sh!t compared to what they sold. Only an epidemic on the internet. Polaris's track record does kind of suck but it's not as bad as everyone makes it sound on here. The pros weren't either. The 850 is an awesome sled. Enjoy it while it lasts.
