Heading out to a spot that has only has 85 octane as a nonethanol option. Group has some 850 and 800 motors. Other option is 91 with ethanol. Riding 9,000 to 11,000 feet; thoughts on what to run?

85 octane WILL det in a stock axys and pro 800 at 8-9,000ft

If those are your only 2 options, run the 91 with the ethanol.

take a couple of 5 gallon cans of 100LL av gas to mix... no ethanol... and you dont have to transport that much.

The 85 R+M/2 fuel will have about an 82 MON (motor octane)
100LL has about a 103 MON rating.

Your goal is to bring it to a about 87 MON (91 R+M/2)..
So about 7 gallons of Pump-85 mixed to 3 gallons of 100LL.

For 5 tanks of fuel in your sled... you should get by with about 15 gallons of 100LL.
Not a bad tradeoff... and you'll still have great throttle response IMO.

Just use the 91 with ethanol and put it in 91 non-ethanol. We have over 50 axys 800's doing this and 4 850's , and never had det issue. And this is low 0-5000' .

Seems like alot of dinking around... I dont like running ethanol but have no choice sometimes, and never had an issue. Heck I know theres no choice in most of Utah, thats all those guys run.

Did see ethanol eat through a rubber connection on a Doo tank once, but it had been sitting for a couple years.
