800 ves bigblock in 600 iq rmk

I did in 07 when Polaris didn't have a 800 for that year. It took some work to get it done. New plate and some modification to the exhaust side shock tower. I ran SLP twins that were modified to fit. I was experiencing alot of heat soak and occasional lost of rpm's. It ran like a raped ape when it was on though (which would be 20% of the time). So last year I bought this single from SLP that you see. I had it coated and installed and never had an issue with heat soak again or r's falling. I didn't change any clutching or anything else and the sled runs strong. The rpm's stay strong and works consistent. The motor is ported a little much as it was set up for hill climbing competition and perhaps didn't work well with twins for playing in the back hills as I have other friends with the same pipes and either had mild porting by other shops or none at all and run just fine with twins. Seemed to keep up with all the new sleds as I also had a new dragon at the same time to compare it to.

I had this brilliant idea 2 years ago. I was convinced by a reputable person to just buy a CFI 700 because, in reality, the 700 has more power (stock for stock) than the 8. 140 for the 7 compared to 135 ish for the 8. I would think that you would be farther ahead to do a 727 kit or even an 860 kit. It would be less of a headache.

Been there done that.

Roundy800 did a couple here on snow west.
My son`s and I did one last winter with a Power Addiction motor plate and SLP single for the conversion.
Had to raise the engine 3/4" off of the mounting plate to get carb to jack shaft clearance. Also used Polaris 2004 PRO X carb boots as they a very short and free up more room for the carbs. Then had to raise shock tower brace near the center to make room for the exhaust Y pipe. Just cut the brace near the shock tower at 45 degree angle then flipped the cut piece 180 degrees and re welded it back on. Also must modify the right side bulkhead area to run the oil injection pump. We did run without oil injection at the start to make the project drivable sooner then went back in and did the oil pump mounting. I got my son to do most of this mod and it required a little grinding and then making a little shield or guard to cover up the the hole.
Could not easily use any air box I have sitting around so I am using UNI Filter Pods with a 15 degree intake kick up. The pods do sit on the jackshaft a little but do not hurt the filters yet. I do have lots of vent to get the hot under the hood air out and have had no bogging problems.
The SLP pipe does need the spring hooks welded on and we had to mod the muffler mounting pad slightly to get it yo work on our project but the pipe does fit OK. Did have to take the upper right hood vent screen out and cut the hood for clearance and used a little heat tape. The vent hole still looks stock so no butcher job required.
We used the shorter 440 racer style Polaris belt 321114 ???? [ Would have to go look in the shop to get the belt #### `s ] Needed the short belt to make room for the 800 VES water pump and recoil housing.

There were a number of little things to make it all work and might seem like a lot of work but we had the parts and time and it was a good father andson`s
project . It was well worth it and we rode it in the the mountains 4 different time and put on over 1500 miles on the flat Saskatchewan prairie.

The 800 engine is stock with a Indy Dan bottom end. The performance is outstanding and runs side by side with the 2009 800 Doos and 800 RMK`s with similar tracks.

Hope this is helpful info.

pics and info

thanks do you have any pics when you where building it up or with no motor and could you get me a pic of the water pump clearness and what did you use for the gas tank line . you use the stock ves 800 motor pipe i was thinking of trying the new type pipe with the moter . and how dose she run in there and thanks again for the pics.

I think I will definately get rid of the oil injection on mine. Does anyone know if power addiction motorplate from cfi4 can be used with bigblock liberty?

Brad makes fantastic products.. there is no doubt about that. If you can get your hands on a Holz plate for this install it is a much easier install. No cutting of the bulkhead, carbs fit right in... just a real easy fit. The only negative is it lifts the motor up about 3/4". Supposedly you cant get twin pipes in with the Holz plate. Mine seems like it has a ton of room yet though.

The other negative is trying to find the Holz plate.. like finding a needle in a hay stack. Apparently they got tired of answering questions and cut up all the remaining plates. I do have a set of instructions for the plate though.
