Hey,
currently have my 08 800 at a dealer in north dakota waiting for the update. Its been there for a month and the tell me the updates are in backorder and they have 5 other 800's waiting as well. Anyone else gettin the same story?

Yup, still waiting on a kit myself. I won't take my sled in until the parts arrive though, might be riding before the parts get here.

yep the kit shows on backorder right now..comes off on 11-27-09..so tuesday they should ship.....

Ya last thurday is was supposed to ship nov 20th, week before that it was nov 13th, now it nov 27th, wish I would have kept it till they were in for sure...

yeah a few friends just dropped theirs off when the dealer called in the beginning...still havent gotten them back..when dealer called me I said well..figure out when the parts will be here and when you will want it in the shop..and I will bring it in the night before(I didnt want mine sitting out in his yard)so 4 weeks later he calls..I drop it and pick it up all done the next night...the others finally got theirs back..sleds are filthy from sitting out...I was worried about someone jumping/cutting his fence and stealing parts off mine..hopefully the kits come off backorder next week and you guys get fixed up.................:beer;:beer;:beer;

updates

South dakota and north dakota guys send me a pm i would prob have time to do your updates very soon!!

I called 2 dealers on monday to see if they could get mine done.. One said they were waiting for the kits and the next told me to bring it in.. I brought it in monday evening and I picked it up this morning..

I'm no so sure the update is worth waiting for.... I got one and a half tanks run through mine and both pistons are scored really badly. PTO side being the worse of the two. Last year I got on average 2 tanks per motor last year, this year with the update it's not even that. No joke. Everything was done right on break in, running the Polaris blue oil, pre mix 40:1, and blue in the tank as well.

UH OH. I am going to ride mine this weekend and see how she runs. I will be riding with 2 other updated sleds as well. I never really had a problem with mine pre-update, hopefully there will be some kind of performance improvement over last years. I feel for you, it sucks when you have a brand new sled and it doesn't run worth a crap. Mine had the chaincase go out twice last year. Hopefully that beast doesn't rear its ugly head again.

down on power

if you ride above 4000 feet you might want to think about it i have the up date i think it is about 140 horse now last year run good be carefull i think polaris pulled a fast one :beer;

1 Was the fuel filter changed?

I found on mine last year that the fuel was being restricted on long pulls but only when 1/2 tank or less. New fuel filter seemed to fix this, ran out of season for extended testing.

2 Has the regulator and ECU been changed out?

The motor was running very lean based on wideband O2 readings, dealer swapped out the voltage regulator and ECU and they went back to normal readings.

You have to have other problems causing these issues.

Yep, as I said in the other topic, fuel filter was changed, and the voltage regulator was also changed last spring. ECU has not been touched, so that could be the problem, but I asked my dealer at the time and he said the ECU was good. I would like to keep this sled, but every time I think they might have it figured out it fails me with as good as no ride time. I haven't been able to run this sled with out breaking in the motor. Kinda a funny thought. Since last Dec when I bought it, I have had it almost broken in, and then it will fail, new motor, also broken in and it failed again. I still has premix in it last spring when I parked it, this year it got updated, so I kept running pre mix, about 400 premixed miles for me so far, not once was I able to run clear gas through it. Interesting thought to say the least.

my understanding from a source of mine is that Polaris made the update kits based on only 60% of people taking advantage of the update. I think they might of underestimated that number, especially since it extends the engine warranty from my understanding.

ECU not touched?
It needs to be updated to the new program.
The major problem here in my opinion I'm sorry to say is certain dealers are not as good at doing these as others.
Look at Carls cycle update stuff. They have done over 120 of these alot are on the snow and no problems so far.
The service dept. has to be good and know what they are doing my opinion.

if you guy's dont see your kits soon, i have two extras at the store, that i will not be needing. have your dealers give me a call at the store, (208) 746-0381

and 600xc4me if your dealer changed the voltage regulator he should have also changed the ecu, Polaris had us replace all the ecu's last year when the regulators went down.

Good to know. I really wonder how many of these burndowns are caused by the v.r./ ECU combo. I really think that it's a bunch since the sled seems to runs fine until it seizes. Unless your checking plugs or have egts/O2, you'd never think anything is wrong.

did you put the update on yours?

yes i did, have just over 100 miles on it so far this season, including a little spin this morning. i did however flash mine back to last years mapping and non active DET sensor though because mine kept throwing DET codes and going in to limp mode when it shouldnt have. it only did this on boost so stock guys should not have that problem.
here's a pic from this morning :)
