800 trail

Hi guys need some input from the Hawk crowd. Always -playn Just bought a 2008 800 trail and on his first ride the top taper lock slid over and chewed in to the retaing bolts for the bearing on the top shaft. This also chewed the hell out of the belt and destoyed two clutch belts trying to walk it back out. Now his machine only has about 4-5 miles total on it. Has any body else have this happen? Did Hawk stand behind it ? Any input would be great. I have been telling him not to get a bad taste from this but for his very first ride he is Arse hurt pretty bad.

Holy smokes.. I would be bent to.. Wont Bovin take car of it?/I know thats probably a joke right?? what about the dealer?
You guys know the answer with the chain drive kit...Nothing worse than something brand new having major issues...

I should have enough parts with the order that is coming to chain drive it. call me in the morning.

I'm very interested to hear what happens when you speak to AD Boivin about it. If I understand this correctly, this is a brand new machine. If so, then it's one year warranty was just activated and as such, this problem should be 100% covered.

I just bought 2 brand new machines, meaning their 1 year warranties were just activated. If AD Boivin won't cover this, then why should we ever buy his product again if they resume production.

disapointing warranty

I sold a new 600 last year and the intake boots tore after a few rides. Everyone knows this was a problem but they would not cover it either. I can just about always get warranty on product and parts that I sell in my normal business no questions asked.

Besides who in the heck charges for a warranty card anyways, that is rediculas!

well I will buy ,but only used from the guy like this who lost the passion and sells cheap enough to account for little problems like this ,if he is ready to take 6k then he has truly had the bad taste like others ...I am surprised at the taper lock moving I had to pound the holy poop out of mine with heat to get it loose, must not have been tight to begin with,is a good reminder to cheak every bolt and nut on ones machine before use,but I hear you on the warranty, maybe the guy should have bought a polaris instead as my buddy had a shock fall of his new used machine from them and went back and walked out with a brand new zero miles machine....bottom line is dont buy a hawk and expect to be equal with the big manufacturers ,some things are better some are worse, fix it and double check everything or blow it out cheap and move on to shoveling snow for winter excitment.....if you cant work on it yourself you need a new one from one of the big 4.....and the most reliable machine period is one that dosent get ridden....I could keep going on with dirtbag sez but I have to go shovel snow.then work on my hawk....

Well the factory won't back the hawk he said it was an 08 and the warrenty was up. It was explained that this is a NEW hawk never ridden and again he stated it was a 08 and NO WARRENTY. Tom at Alaska toy rental is doing more than the factory was willing to do. Big props to Tom for that but me and CJ are just going to convert it to the 530 chain drive and forget about it.

On my 05 hawk they warrentied my stock can no ?'s asked I was hopeing for the same service on this but no go also herd that Luke is no longer with them don't Know for sure but that is what was stated today to Tom. My two cents on this deal is I LOVE my Hawk but if this is the way they conduct them selves with customers then &##%^ them. I hope somebody buys them out so we can contiune to grow this sweet arse sport.

Heard back from the dealer today. No AD Boivin will not warranty it. They say there is no warranty on it since it is a year old. Figure this would happen. Luckily, the dealer is willing to make it right. Going to get with IbBroken and CJgodden to put the chain drive on and enjoy it. Only down one weekend, still plenty of winter left.

One more reason to NEVER buy anything from ADB...

That IS the most ridiculous warranty decline reason I have ever heard of.
****'em.
There's nothing, we, guys on this forum, can't make anyway (except maybe a bellypan), and since we're riders, we care to make it better, they care to kill it.

you guys make me a new hawk and ill be sure to find a way to make a belly pan!!! if im not mistakin there is a sticker inside my hawk somewhere with the manufactures name and number who made the plastic body parts for ad boivin...

The problem is he bought it from a busniess that is not truely a dealer, The guy gets parts from ADB but the machine was bought from a dealer in canada. So ADB is saying the warranty started the day it was bought from the dealer in canada.

We'll we hooked another one, We got the chain drive installed and in the process I found another dealer setup error, The belt deflection was off by a ton. Had to take apart the driven and remove a shim to get the deflection right. We were able to take him out sat and sunday and put some miles on. He did great for his first couple of rides. We had good snow for learning and had a great time. He's smiling now.:D

Had my first rides this weekend with CJ and ibBroken after they fixed all the issues I was having. Those two have so much knowledge about these machines. I can't say thanks enough for all the help. I have no regrets about buying this machine, definitely a good investment. Thanks guys :D:D
