800 Recall

I love it, super light weight and sounds great. I dont want to fork out another 250 bucks or more for an slp if the hps is not going to hurt the engine. I like it when the sled had a bit of "bark" to it.

Still running my MBRP. My dealer told me not to worry about it. Said it has always been a fact that aftermarket cans supposedly void the warranty. Not an issue unless you dealer is sticky, or Polaris sends out an adjuster, which they do sometimes.

So I have about 450 miles on the update which has been treating me very well so far...until today. It is really stumbling between 5900-6900 RPM, and is almost cutting out at times. I only noticed the DET light flash once at about 5900 rpm. I was riding between 5000 at 6500 feet.

The only mod I have is the SLP can. I know others have probably been experiencing the same thing. What have you guys done about it?

Anybody?
I am also having the same idle issue as pthfndr who started a post today. The shop claims that it is the safety sensor in the throttle body and that the cable just needs to be adjusted. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesnt. I was also having problems with it losing power/dying at an idle in the powder.

Im just really frustrated with this because my sled ran great before this update.

i have an 09 with 287 miles before update.seemed to run very well before the 2010 update.i have approx.75 miles on the update and have found some issues...after break in ride with oil and stabil in the gas from last yr i brought it home filled it up with 90 octane and put in a fresh set of plugs.it ran really good for about the next 20 miles then started giving me throttle hesitation at tip in and mid range.it also started to back fire at random times.took it home and parked it in the garage for the next 2 nights and went to fire it up yesterday morning and got a loud backfire and nothing.pulled the plugs and the cylinders were full of fuel and plugs were soaked.pulled it over a few times to clean out the fuel and dried the plugs.let it sit about 10 mins and tried to fire it up again.same thing.did the plugs again and let it sit for another 20 mins.tried again but held the throttle wide open.it finally started(barely).and i rode about 25 miles.i turned 8300 to 8350 max and never got over 123 degrees.wide open throttle, couldent be happier.all the rest of my problems are still there and now i have to give it throttle about half the time to get it to start.VERY FRUSTRATING.taking it in for first time on new update after 75 miles.hearing something about a 2010 fuel regulator that will supposedly fix it.i am skeptical though.my friend that has an 08 with the 2010 update has the exact same problems so at least they cant tell us that "yours is the only one".would like to hear anyone elses opinions on their updates.

Anyone check there compression with the update? I have 71 miles on mine with the update and both cylinders are just below 100psi with a snap-on compression tester. This is a 09 800 rmk. I'm going to bring the borescope home tomorrow and have a look. Mine seemed to run good, starts ok sometimes I have to use a little throttle but not always, the only thing I noticed that when going slow through tight tree trails that it almost seems like it dies when you let off the throttle but I thought it was just the efi as I have never had a sled with efi.

My sled had the stumble as well. Just not nearly that bad. It would just cough or hiccup for a sec then take off and run line normal.

Did a bore scope and it looks good other than lots of carbon build up for 71 miles. no signs of any piston wash. There is a sight and I mean slight score mark at the 2:00 position using 12:00 as intake and it is slight as I can still see crosshatch under the score mark and this is the same on both cylinders. Dealer had added oil to the gas tank( what kind I don't know) and the oil in the oil tank is polaris gold. I've never been a real big fan of polaris oil as when I installed 03 jugs on my 01 I had the same kind of results it's still running though with 1000miles on it. Before I installed the 03 jugs my 01 had 4000miles on it running only esso oil with no issues period! I've also noticed way more chaincase wear if I use Polaris chaincase oil! I am thinking of trying a different oil!

My stock 09 800 blew last year with 2,300 miles. Dealer rebuilt it at the end of last year, and then rebuilt it again with the updates in November of this year. Put 100 miles on it last night and it has a big cough / flat spot at 5,500 to 6,500 RPM's - runs fine above or below that. Didn't have this issue last year. It is back at the dealer as we speak.

Went riding friday experienced idling problems when I was warming the sled up. About an hour into the ride I experienced the same stumble/flat spot at a very inopprotune time and I was bucked off my sled and broke my ankle. Sled went back to the shop yesterday. They said out the updates they have done (unsure of the #) I am the first one complaining of any problems but the mechanic isnt discrediting me.

They have plenty of time to work on it since Im laid up for awhile so hopefully it is returned to me running tip top.

Sorry to hear about the ankle. The local dealer here recognizes the stumble in mine - says they can not do anything about it and I have to live with it. I let him know I wasn't accepting that answer and wasn't picking up the sled until it was fixed and didn't have the stumble - they are calling the factory Monday. We will see what happens.

Sorry to hear about your ankle and your sled issues. I'm dealing with the same issues on my '09 RMK 800 as well. Mine hiccups enough where it will catch me off guard and I will taco over the handlebars. I did that twice on Friday during my first ride. I'm looking at trading it in for a 700 RMK...possibly.

After 09 800 recall

Have about 80 miles on the 800 assault after the recall, cant seem to get past 7850 RPM, and top out at 66 mph on flat trail. called the dealer and they said its breakn in and give it about 100 miles? No burps or hesitations, just seems like its weak from the start after the recall. Before the recall i would reach 8350 rpm, and 86 MPH???????? Is it break in?

Just curious, did anybody elses run very hot the initial couple miles? Mine was in the 160's and may have touched 170-ish the 1st couple miles (ice scratchers down and stopping to kick snow in the track) then it came down to the regular 126-130 it ran before the update. Seemed kinda odd to me, no warning lights or DET. What's the max you would need to be concerned about?

Before you trade it in on 700 do the math and find out if it would be more cost effective to go with a BB from Carl's or whomever else is making one and let me know :D. That's the route I may go if it goes TU. Or maybe switch to AC

Jonce sold the sled last night!:D

Got my sled back from the dealer yesterday. They said they could not duplicate the hesitation that I was experiencing. The tech said he went through the whole machine using diagnostics equipment which didn't show anything because my machine has not thrown any codes. The tech said that he checked the TPS settings and everything was within spec but they did adjust it to make it more rich in the mid range (assuming the hesitation was secondary to a lean condition). I took it out yesterday and it ran even worse. Apparently the tech is going to get on the horn with Polaris and try to figure out what is going on, this is really frustrating. Has anyone else had any luck fixing this problem or gotten any answers from their shop?

I just got my sled back and put a bunch of new parts on it. My dealer said that the flash they did might not be the best one as of yet but polaris has a new one so might have to take it back in if it doesnt turn out all good. my buddy has a assault 800 and him and i are just gonna run em like we stole em and thats coming from my dealer also.

Re: SLP Silencer
Have dealer double check the part #they quoted you on; the one that is reduced by Polaris is # 1262142-RMK and should go for around 150-175.00. Parts counter may not be aware of the info on the silencer in the Service Bulletin. The one in the '10 parts catalog for a '09 800 is part #2877184 msrp $264.99. '08 is part #2876340 @$249.99.
