800 PRO RMK vs. 800 RMK

I'm wondering if any one can tell me the main differences between these two? I don't see that much and it seems everyone in AK is sold out of the PRO. I don't know that much about sleds, so if anyone can explain simply to me I would appreciate it.

Here's a quick list in case you don't find the other post:

handlebars different
controls relocated
fewer bogey wheels on pro
pro has carbon fiber bumper, RMK had alum
pro is lighter
pro has lighter resonator
color scheme
seat material is different
pro has flat black windshield

I'm sure there are a few more things, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head...

goin out on a limb here, but if you say you dont know much about sleds, than you probly wont be concerned with the few small things that are different between the two sleds.

Main things that are different are the nicer, more adjustable WalkerEvans shocks on the Pro RMK, and the flat plate style steering post with Pro Taper handlebars. The standard RMK has adjustable shocks, (except the front track shock) but they arent going to be as nice of a ride after a while as compared to the WE shocks on the pro, and this sled has a pivot style steering post/riser setup (which I think is better). Also, the standard has an additional front heat exchanger. All the other differences have been stated previously.

I think you will be more than satisfied with the standard RMK. When I ordered mine I had many plans to change things so thats why I went with the basic package sled. I think it would have been great if I had left it bone stock too.

Brakes and jackshaft, shocks, oh and the PRO's have a smaller cooling system, RMK's have an extra cooler in the front of tunnel, making them more suitable for lower speed on hard tracks:face-icon-small-hap

the pro...

the pro has single fuel injectors, versus last years twin injectors, also has a coil over rear suspension

Misinformation..

This new motor is a 2-injector 800, regardless which model you get. If you get a 2011 800, it is a 2-injector motor.

The coil-over rear skid is also a big difference.

they both have a coil over rear suspension according to the polaris site, the difference i would note would be, rebuildable shocks, and less cooling on the pro. carbon bumper on the pro isn't much good other than light and looks, breaks really easy, pro taper bars some love them some hate them, cooling would bother me if i was going to take it on the trails for much riding, but then again if trails were where i ride i'd have a short track.

Like others above have said

  • Carbon Fiber rear bumper tube compared to aluminum on the STD.
  • Ported snow flap compared to the unported on the STD
  • Switches on the console on the PRO (warmers, hi/lo beam, mode/select) on the bars in the multifunction pod on the STD
  • Racer style aluminum "cyclone" brake lever on the PRO... Std is built into the multifunction pod and made from plastic on the STD.
  • Rebuildable aluminum Walker Evans shocks on the PRO compared to std steel Ryde-FX shocks on the STD.
  • Hollow Jackshaft on the PRO compared to solid on the STD
  • Sawtooth lightweight Brake rotor on the PRO... solid on the std.
  • ProTaper handlebars on the PRO with plate style steering post top on the PRO.
  • Pivot style steering post with block riser and std steel bars on the STD.
  • Different color plastics. (red hood on the STD with Black panels...Vice/versa on the pro)
  • The Pro Does NOT have the bulkhead heat exchanger on the bypass cooling circuit...the STD does.
  • Weight is about 9 lbs different.
  • Tracks are the same... both single ply 2.4" paddle series 5.1
  • Both have straight rails.

Both sleds, PRO & STD & RUSH have the same muffler (part number 1262092-489 )

I made the same mistake when captcolby PM'd me... and thought he was talking about the diff between the 2011 PRO and the Dragons.
