800 PRO DYNO HP

The non-ethanol mode pulls 5% fuel and advances the ignition 1 degree. Or so I've been told. I don't understand why this wouldn't work with ethanol premium fuel. Isn't the ethanol mode for regular ethanol fuel?

yes they are made for both, but the ethanol plug can run premium without causing problems, maybe a tiny bit rich. with pushing 5% more fuel in the engine. but when the sled needs the 5% more fuel and doesn't have it, it can go into det mode. they said when in doubt use the ethonol plug
 
The premium fuel resist deto better than regular because of the higher octane rating. But running lean increases deto so if the jetting is close (seems to be the case) then using the non ethanol plug with ethanol premium could still result in deto or at least enough that the computer starts pulling timing and adding fuel. The end result may be reduced performance.
 
So... If you run the premium plug and run like 87 no corn,it will make the most power... If you don't deto or burn down. I doubt this would be the case in the mountains. I wouldn't try it on the flats.

As far as hp #s go. My butt dyno told me it had about 180 hp :face-icon-small-sho

the butt dyno is the one that counts, the machine dynos can say what they want. i think premium is what the sled wants for the premium non corn plug. low octane gas and polaris 800's have not had a good relationship the last couple of years.
 
You should not be running 87 in the 800 CFI-2, unless you absolutely must. Run premium only, +91, ethanol or non-ethano. While it will run on 87, performance will suffer, even compared to 91 ethanol.
 
hey, they have non ethonol 93 at sinclair...head west on rt20,as you come down the hill on the left just before that harley bike shop in Sharon springs, have had no problems with it..non ethonol 93

says who? The polaris manual that they wrote so nobody would blow up the engine? At 8000 feet+ things like that change. The lower the octaine, the easier the fuel burns.Meaning, that if it isn't burning all hte fuel it has now(which it isn't) than going ot a slightly lower octain fuel will result in a better more complete burn. I will try it out when i fuel up and go riding tomarrow. I have 350 miles on my sled. I love how it runs....but it could always run better.

More octain will NOT make more power. the higher the octain, the harder it is to ignite the fuel. Don't belive me? Go buy some 110 race fuel, throw it in your sled and count how many fouled plugs you get. I am no expert in thurmodynamics or combustion chambers, ratios, timing curves, fuel mixtures, but i am sure some one on hear knows their **** and will set this topic strait.

I rode wiht 3 random groups in cooke the last few days. The groups had alll sorts of sleds ranging from all the brands. They were all impressed with the assualt and alot of them wanted to ride it. I can say for sure that the two stock Xp's i played wiht wouldn't touch the assualt in technical climbs, and the older dragons and cats wern't even close. There was a new e-tec there bet he didn't have a full ttank of fuel through it so it wasn't a fair test. We will find out tomarrow when i head out. :devil:

Sorry for the hijack: You're doing technical climbs in Cooke in the current conditions? You're either really brave, or, well, the other alternative...

Stay safe, it can be done with or without ethanol.
 
by technical climbs, i mean in the trees... Never have been a fan of open slopes. And to be fair, we had ABS, probes shovels, ETC. Slap a 15 year old on a turboed anything and they can go in a strait line...hell it's even easier when there is a helicopter waiting on the ridge. I know that is the desired test that everyone wants to know the result of but it's not a real world thing. Atleast not for me, anyone who only rides to climb strait up hills to beat their friends is missing out on a lot of fun.

I can tell you that a 2011 Pro RMK 163" will smoke a 2010 and 2009 D8 in 163" by 4-5 sled lengths in 1/8-1/4 mile range. I am running non-ethanol resistor and have about 75 trail/mountain miles and the D8 with aftermarket reeds(also running non ethanol gas) and a 30lb. lighter rider couldn't touch me. They said they were gaining above 50mph but I couldn't tell. The hole shot on this sled is pretty amazing. I'll be testing it against my 2009 DJ clutched 154" 800XP X tomorrow.

Whatever. Supposed to run on it. It's your sled. I understand the squish and cpu like abit more octane than 87 to avoid timing retard from deto sensor. I only run 110 mix in a mod I have with a custom head. No fouled plugs.
