800 ETEC Turbo - good to go!

Great news on the testing. The fit and finish look next to none from what I can see on the pics. Why the price difference? Trask website says $5049.95.

clutching

if someone mentioned this and i missed it please forgive the question
Kit looks beatutiful and well thoughtout and it's obvious that these guys have had a lot of experience with turbo's. But looking at it from thepov of an average consumer, will a complete kit being sold by a harley turbo specialist just geting into the snow market have the cluthinging dialed for a mtn sled? 200hp is great but you have to get it to the snow.

Hmmmm...i may be taking your comment the wrong way, so please disregard if I have, but BRP was very interested in this turbo system. So much that they gave Trask a prototype in the spring to build and test the kit.

This is true. BRP actually has a growing interest in forced induction. We have had both the 600 & 800 ETECs since the beginning of the year and were even sent the Can-Am Commander UTV to turbo at the request of BRP.

Yes, Trask uses only genuine Garrett.

And your right, Trask doesn't know snowmobile clutching, but he doesn't have to. His team of engineers and fabricators build the kits, and RND Customs, in Langley, BC, handle everything else, testing, clutching, etc. They have numerous years of snowmobile experience, have a factory trained BRP and Polaris tech on hand, and have some high profile riders riding for/with them that all have a hand in testing and product development. Clutching will not be supplied with the kit. There's too many variables...track length, elevation, snow conditions, etc. To provide one set up for everyone, wouldn't work. Clutching recommendations will be provided based on all the factors. I have been in the industry for almost 15 years and have not seen something so well designed, so thought out, other than what comes directly from the factory (which sometimes is scary enough!) Trask made believers out of turbo skeptics in the Harley world. Showing that when down properly, there's no better way to build usable, reliable power. That's why im so excited to see them do the same in the snow world. Only time will tell...

Thank god they will stand behind this statement..

the rating the ball bearing knockoffs have is horrid..

400 miles, bearings wiped out ,, not balanced..ee gads..

everything soul is talking about is dead on!!! plus there is a couple more issues that will show up that soul did not talk about. if he goes through his notes he will find them. we had some sensors that would not even read how lean this motor runs. The carbed xp is a great kit and most all the problems have been solved or fixed. but the etec is a different animal and i can bet that not many guys have 2000 miles on a turboed etec.

your just mad cuz u have some big compotition:face-icon-small-ton

just because brp has something does not mean it's good. Look at there track record with new products. I also know they are testing gerretts and aeros. I would think they are comparing them to see which one hold up.

We have been running the new turbo kit from Aerocharger since before Christmas. After a couple of minor hiccups, the performance is better then expected. From the complete instructions, to the fit and finish of the product it is very well put together. We are currently in a longevity test for other motor, chassis related issues relevant to the increase in horsepower, so time and mileage will show how the rest of the sled holds up. As far as the turbo kit itself, after working with some of the other turbo kits available, my opinion is, it is the best one on the market currently.
We are using our own designed clutch arms, and we have developed a turbo specific suspension for this project.
The 3-D clutch arms help to address some of the heavy clutch pin related issues we have chased in the past, as well as avoiding some of the too high spring rate finish loads. Just off bottom end we are still a little soft, compared to a stock sled, but it is a very boondockable sled, yet with such explosive power once you decide you need to move.
The QE suspension is the most smoothest suspension we have ever ridden, hands down. It addresses the ski lift that is so predominant with the power the turbo offers, but yet it is not a rigid ride at the same time. And yes it is an all air shock skid, with custom Ice Age rails. ( This skid is also being used in the 2 Ski Doo 189" tracks. It is my understanding that their 189's turn better then a stock 163 Ski Doo!!)
The suspension will be available for both the Artic Cat and Polaris in the very near future. We are currently doing a limited build for the Ski Doo turbo sleds. To answer any questions about the Aerocharger E-Tec turbo kits, or clutching or suspension product you can contact us at 530-862-1128. Our website is www.tomssnowmobile.com
Looks like Ski Doo has a turbo kit that's going to work well with their new engine.
