700 RMK v. 800 RMK

Would you rather have a gun with three shells that shoots every bullet as straight as could be or a gun that holds five shells, shoots just as accurate but jams every clip?
I say the 700 because the motor is bulletproof and it shouldn't be too hard to get it to the horsepower of a stock d8. Just what i would choose though. Maybe with the 10 updates it will run great though

700

i have gone with the 700 twice and been extremely happy if you get the right clutching it will be sweet. Love mine and can outclimbs alot of sleds but i am only 150 lbs. and dont worry about the 800 motor

700

I agree, the Polaris 700's are bulletproof, I have a 08 700 rmk and LOVE it!.

But on the other hand if Polaris got there Sh!t right and fixed the problems on there 800's that would be a good route too...

I guess it comes down to what else is on the sled... the D8 is gonna have Walker Evans Im assuming, and the RMK isnt, unless it was put on after, so that is something to look into as well...

good luck with the decision, Im sure either sled will be awesome!

I would have to say go with the 09 700 RMK

They are awesome capable sleds. I have seen a few 09 D8's with flat shocks and a new motor.

My dad has the 09 700 and it rocks.. not as torquey as my m8 but it runs very well. If you dont mind not having the 800 i would say the 700 makes up for it's lack of power with superior reliability

I had a 07 D7 and it was awesome. Ran great and was reliable. I just lacked low end grunt especially when getting track spin to climb the steep and deep.

Now I have a D8 and I have not had a single issue with it. The D7 had a head mod and would run with most D8's when it got up to speed. It just wouldn't take off the same. I think if you ride aggressively, you will feel a little underpowered on the D7.

Spend some time on the IQ section of the forum. Of course the reading there might be too painful for a Polaris fan:o

I personally would think you would have to be nuts to take a gamble on any Polaris snowmobile right now. The D8 has major motor issues, and most that do run, run poorly. There are electrical issues throughout the RAW line-up and I am not convinced the 600 and 700 are as infallible as they say. My buddy lost the crank on a 2200 mile '07 600 this year.

I have a 09 RMK 700 and it seems to run right beside the updated 800s. Dynotech dyno'd a updated 800 at 145hp and the 700 is a claimed 140hp. Is 5hp and a unreliable motor really worth it for the 800? Throw a SLP pipe on the 700 and you will be with the 800 in hp numbers.

or get the 800 and pcv and be at the claimed 154 horsepower

how big are you size weight and what skill do you have what type of riding do you do then we can all debate on that. Size will tell you everything. If you are a giant go with 800 other than that youll be happy.

I'd trade my 800 straight up for a 700 that has never had any issues. I've been riding my 600 for 6 weeks and will likely ride it for at least 1 more.

I've owned in order..... the '07 d7 155, loved that sled but thought I needed more so I traded it in for the '08 d8, sled ran like crap and had the mid-range stumble on trail every time I rode it, thought it was going to blow up every time I rode it, then eventually it did blow up, took out the crank and the monoblock. I Bought an'09 700 155 rmk this year, have about 450 miles on it so far and I am absolutely loving it. Zero running issues so far. I don't know if it's just me but I find it easier to ride everywhere. I feel like I can point this sled in and around any obstacle and find my way through it or around it as easy as thinking about it. I like it way better than the 800 I had. true, the 800 will outclimb it my a marginal amount, but not enough to take my '08 800 back over this 700. I have a big sh!t eating grin on every time I ride now, not a puckered a-hole like I used to have with the 800. Buy the overachieving 700, you'll thank me later when your buddie's 800s are blown up waiting for parts and you're still out there riding hard making xp's take second looks

oh ya, so far I also like the ryde fx shock 1000 x better than the walkers I had on my last 2 dragons. both sets of walkers leaked nitrogen like it was free. Ya I know you can recharge/ rebuild them for cheap but if the ryde fx sacks out a seal at least the spring will hold the sled up to get it home, whereas if the walker loses its charge you are riding home on nothing, scraping the ground and bottoming out the whole way. not worth the minimal weight savings

buy a 600! it keeps up with the 800s and beats some!!

ha just kidding, im just tired of hearing everyone say that!
but for real if you want something you can abuse and mod, yet still be reliable just get a 700. If your going to treat the 800 nice(other then climbing and in deep pow) then it would probably be fine

happy with my 700

I am on a 08 700 Dragon and it has been a solid dependable ride. Spent the bucks at SLP to get pipe, can, air kit ,clutch kit and it keeps up with the 800s I have ridden with. I have debated adding v-force but have not yet.If the new 800 has a good season I might jump up but if they blow em again this year I will be looking for a new 700.I have 1650 trouble free deep snow mountain miles on it and it runs like new. I havent had a chance to ride with 800 polaris other than turbo'd so honestly cant make a comparison. I have buds on new ski-doos and I can keep up with them. I am 225lbs. with my gear on and the 700 pulls fine for me.

07 dragon

i am on a 07 dragon 700 that will go anywhere my dads 08 dragon 800 to me the only differance beetween the to sleds is that the 800 has a little more bottom end power and not even that much more i mean the sled costs what 200 dollers more then the 700 not worth it to me i love my 700 and to me there is no difference.
