700 IQ Top End Refresh Looking for Input

I have two 700 IQ's that are in need of a top end refresh on 08 and an 09. Both are are backup sleds ridden a few times a year and both approaching 2000 miles and as of now have no issues. Assuming that I don't open pandoras box and find cylinder scoring or loose bearings. I plan on regasketing and new wrist pin bearings. I am looking for input on three things.
>what piston kits should I order, OE or aftermarket, sources?
>assuming the cylinders aren't scored do I need to have them honed, what is the probability that they will be out of round and need to be serviced anyway.
>If I should need to service the cylinders because of scoring any recommendations for a internet vendor that would cater to my type of job.

Thanks in advance for ideas

Polster,if both run great, why mess with them? of course it is good preventative service..have you done a compression test? pulled plugs, Y pipe and p-valves and eyeballed ?as for parts, me I would use factory stuff, they seemed to work just fine especially on the 7's. as for scoring/honing.. You should always hone on rering/repiston(cylinder hatchmark is important) and I would only use a sunnen style bar hone(helps insure a round non tapered cylinder) with a compound made for nicasil. if the scoring can be felt with a fingernail(dragged across the score) then most likely it should be renicasiled.( I used to get reniced cylinders right from poo, not sure if dealers can still do that)..hope that helps..Mike

Thanks for the input, I have bore scoped it and looked thru the y pipe, I do see some scuffing on the 09, I have not done a compression test, good call. I will check with the dealer for cylinder exchange, have you ever used carls cycle?. Thanks for the input

I still have set of '09 cylinders kicking around, I sell. They'll need a slight hone, but per SLP, they are in great shape. I have them due to going to SLP's 777 kit 2 years ago. If your interested, I can also see what SLP will charge to hone them.
