700 dragon seizes again

To me it looks like lack thereof wash. maybe its just the picture tho....

To me it all looks like cooked carbon, with only one area of any kind of wash at all.

You are right only one spot on mag piston with carbon build up.Hard to tell about the oil because I wiped everything off and sucked all the antifreeze out of the lower end.I noticed this morning that the mag side show signs of wear also in the same area as the pto side but just slighty and I reringed it last year when I replaced the pto side .Pulled fuel filter this morning Yes you can blow through it.I guess I should mention I installed a slp air horn and sealed up the air box and installed the 1/4" shut off in the throttle bodies coolant line just before she blew.I would buy a pcV if it would stay together long enough.

How has you're oil consumption been?

You're fuel may be fine. If other things are causing the piston to heat up, your fuel wash can disappear and make it seem as though it's a lean fuel issue.

Also, wha'ts the PTO piston look like, and how about plug color?

And... what did you set the ring gap at when you installed the new piston?

Edit: I see you ringed the other piston too. Ring gap too tight?

The plugs are a dark brown and carboned no carbon on pto side piston. Can't tell you ring cap went by the book probably .Would installing a slp air horn lean it out that much?

SLP AIR HORN KIT

I have the SLP air horn on my sled along with (4) flo-rites in the sides of the dash pod, negligible affect on fuel curve, I.M.O. SLP doesn't say anything in their instructions other than to leave the air box shelf in place

Here's a theory, it's the PTO side going down? Have you blown a belt and gotten cords wrapped on the inside of the clutch, taking out the pto crank seal, drawing in air, leaning it out???

No I have never blown a belt.Good ? tho. I hate to put it back together just to seize again I am going to pull the throttle bodies and look around in there I guess I will pull the clutch also oh hell I will just pull the engine.Any good 800 out there?

If you want to rule out "leakage" you can (you'd have to re-install the jug and heads) take 3 expandable freeze-plugs and plug the intake and Y-pipe, pump approx 10 p.s.i. into the motor with your air line, and spray some soapy water onto the seal area and other areas?

Well here is a update. Drained the fuel from tank and the bottom looks like a sand box so I moved on to the throttle bodies holy crap where they dirty the back of the plates are black and the throats are just as bad great design poo.I guess I should have sealed the air box a lot sooner.I still do not think this is what seized it I believe it would ware the rings out but I do not think it would make it seize.I took another look at the exhaust valves and the pto side is dry and the mag side is wet which makes me think it is a oiling issue so I checked the lines all have oil in them and I only run VES oil. Now I need to check out the oil pump. In my opinion there is only two things that will seize a engine excessive heat or no lube if it was a lean condition it would burn a hole in the piston correct?I will clean the throttle bodies to day and check tps setting.Anyone else have problems with oil pump?

I totally agree. I think you have a oiling or clearance issue, but it is difficult to decide as you have lean appearing pistons. Unfortunately, with a head scratcher like this, you need to verify everything.

Not necessarily.

Detonation is usually responsible for the holes in the dome (I got a few of those for souveniers) from either timing and/or lean issue.

Lean only will/may "stick" the sides (got a few of those as well) w/o torching a hole

The engine is on the bench and all the oil lines look good. Pulled the other cylinder there are ware makes all around the piston and they extend above the rings this is too F ing weird. I hate to but I guess it will have to go to the dealer.
