So it seems everyone is leaning towards a fuel filter issue after I change the filter is there a way to check injecters? How is everyone making out with the napa gold set up for the filter? Why would only one side go down if there was a clogged filter.I need to find the problem.
Agreed, you need to find the problem that caused the burn down(s)
BAD FUEL (As opposed to old fuel??) We didn't address this earlier, any chance of bad fuel, did anyone else fuel up with the same fuel??
CLOGGED FUEL FILTER , If you suspect the filter is clogged, remove it and try blowing through it.
BAD INJECTORS anything is possible, but I highly doubt there's an issue there. Some diesel places offer injector testing services.
FUEL PRESSURE IS SUPPOSE TO BE 58 P.S.I. whether you're idling or at full throttle. There are A/C style fittings on the fuel line. You can make a crude tester by obtaining the Air Cond line charge kit (from an auto parts store) and cut the hose end off, and attach it to a simple 100 p.s.i. oil pressure gauge. Duct tape it to the handle bars if you have to so you can monitor the Fuel Pressure as you're driving down the trail. You can test the fuel pressure right now (with the old filter in place) by hooking up 12 volts to the twin elec plug P.T.O. side, kinda near he hood hinge area, there's a pic of it under the ELEC FUSION 900 thread pinned at the top.
OIL PUMP Someone mentioned this earlier, and you responded with why would it then affect only one cylinder, look at the 1/8" lines that connect to the engine, make sure they are BOTH hooked up, and make sure they BOTH have oil in the lines. How does the engine internals look on the bad cylinder? Oil residue on the rod + crank+ case or are they dry, blued (rod bearing area) ?????
T.P.S. I remove the throttle bodies and test them that way as a matter of convenience, and use the $48.00 tester from POLARIS , it has the nice factory plug on the end of it, although not necessary, it makes it a little easier.
