TSS fit kit 70 Degree Bergs

Toby first of all thanks for the great pics. Looks like your the guy that will be figuring out the fit kit components for Timbersled, over and above cut work. I am sure Allen and gang will appreciate your hard work. What will be the deal on older kits and fitment with the new TSS monoshock upgrade, same geometry or different? Keep us Bergomaniacs updated, thanks again!
 
I cut this subframe last season trying to fit a 2015 SX LT to this bike. BTW: you can not do it. The upper third shock on a 2014-15 SX goes all the way up and hits the stock fuel tank, so don't even try it.

So the size of cut in the lower subframe does not need to be this large for TSS. Just take off the bottom nub.

TSS will go on any of the units we have sold. 2011 - 16. :face-icon-small-hap The backbone and geometry are all, the same.

When I put the 660 up for sale a few months ago I did not get any real solid buyers at the smoking good price I listed, so what does any Bergomaniac do?

Pull the motor and send it back to Thumper Racing for another revamp. You may ask what else can be done? Oh ya!!!!!!! Full on race porting, lowered compression from 13.5:1 down to 12.5:1, new custom ground cam, and back in we go this week. I am hoping for the ridiculous hard pull will now go all the way to the custom 10,500 rev limit. If it signs off a little early I will squeeze on the 30hp shot of BOSSNOS to get it there. :face-icon-small-win

I'm shooting to have 100hp no boost.

Thanks Toby, great pictures. Would it be fair to say that with the shorter TSS from your other bike, what we see in the pictures would be full compression of the right length TSS? Thanks again for all your help, Derek

I would say yes, any more we would have to do a LOT more trimming.
 
This is great news!! Thanks for all the pics and test fitting!

So the big square that you have cut out isn't needed, just the small nub as you mention.

I just checked my bike and that nub is only used as the last screw to hold the mud flap. Once hacked off i'm sure we can rig up something when swapping back to keep the flap in place easy enough.

One question, how much lower do you think the seat height is with the TSS? Surely there is some sag when sitting/standing on the bike - 1 or 2 inches maybe?

I'm far from short (6') but damn this thing is tallll!! (stock 2015 ST kit on a 2011 FE390)

Lower seat height doesn't mean much. Put your foot down in the snow and you'll fall over any way. Just learn to balance the bike.
 
I hear you, so many times i thought I could 'save it' but just sunk into the snow ! Also sucks trying to stand it back up and just sinking in further :)

Still wondering how much lower it is though
 
was working on the bike all yesterday getting everything done.

Unfortunatley my dealer ordered me a fit kit for a PDS KTM, so none of my bushings or redicuers etc are correct. Going to see how fast they can get me the proper one.

Has anyone else mounted the TSS up on a 70 Degree Berg? Obviously the lower TSS bushings are the same and worked fine but the upper (Yellow ones) fit but had too much play on the bolt so I hope timbersled has the proper ones made up, no one can give me any info on this bike in regards to this kit.

Either way i mocked it up somewhat and let all the air out to check clearence, obviously I cut the little Nub off the bottom of the subframe, im not sure how much travel the TSS has but i let it travel until the subframe hits my muffler. Hopefully it is not travelling more then that because i dont know what else i could do to fix that. I also trimmed a little off the rear fender on the chaincase side for clearence

I will have some pictures of all of this uploaded soon

I also did my Oxford Hand Warmers and DJH Cam Tensioner yesterday as well as began building A skidplate from 1/8 puckboard.

anyone else out there building a 16 or tss berg?

This will have proper frame reducers and lower TSS bushings, this is the kit I now have, the one thing I found I am not happy with is the upper TSS bushing(yellow ones). They seem to have too much play on my upper shock bolt, I am getting a machinist friend of mine to lathe me some with a tighter inner tolerance.

Also keep in mind Timbersled will clearly state they do not support TSS and the 70 Degree bergs because you have to cut the lower mudflap knub off the subframe which is *structural* and probably according to Polaris also *Unsafe*, you also need to trim the chain side rear fender about 3/4 of an inch. Will have pics on this this weekend.

Nothing I dont think any of us are too afraid to do, I have already done it.

Running stock cam chain tensioner. Bad idea? Djh easy install?

-I don't think you would have enough TSS clearance on Nitro

-I can Assure you the amount that needs to be cut from the subframe is not going to affect structure and is so small, I will have pictures for you this weekend.

-I have the thermobob debate myself but have heard good things about the stock unit so i am going to try that first.

-I chose to do the DJH because I had a couple guys report the stock hydraulic ones failed, mainly in temps around -25 to -30 Celsius which i do ride in often.

will have complete pictures of everything this weekend once its together.
 
I have a 70 degree berg as well, 390, and i'm looking to upgrade to the TSS unit this season.

Looking forward to seeing pics of the subframe mod, but i've checked mine based on the pics earlier and as you say, it looks super minor.

We'd lose just a single mounting hole for the mud flap - and while I'll have to rig something up for non-winter riding i'm sure its a small thing to sort out.

I have the djh tensioner as well, but i had that before i even thought about the snow bike conversion. It's super easy to install/adjust and great piece of mind!
 
Good thread. Us Berg brothers need to hang together as we are few.

Note for those with Rekluse, had mine tuned by factory here in Boise and they updated the springs on my core exp to the "red" stiffer springs for snow-biking. Other than that it is holding up very well. Wouldn't ride without one. Even have one on my Harley.

looking good. I just used the prefilter over the cage. Didn't see much point in a filter.
 
Thanks for all the great pics, looks like the subframe cut is not too big and everything fists just fine. I would love to hear how you like the TSS when you have her out on the snow.
