Hi, I'm hoping to buy a diff. sled soon and I'm looking for some input. Right now, I'm looking at the summits between 04-06 with a 144" track. What should I go with? an 800 or a 600? I'm guessing the 600 is more reliable, but would I regret going with the 600? I like jumping, boondocking, and playing on the smaller hills. I'm 5'10" and 145 lbs btw.

polarisperson,

600 for your weight and the shorter track is great, unless your very competitive. You will also find the 600 somewhat less expensive and a very smooth power plant. Don't expect the 800's to be less reliable.

if you plan on riding out west in good snow go 800 for sure---06 x was top dog--we kept ours just for a spare this year---awesome sled---and i would try to find a 151---:D:D:beer;

Ok, I've owned an 03 renegade 800 and now own an 07 600 sdi summit. Hard to compare motors fairly because of the different chassis and track lengths. BUT I have to say if you are riding strictly STEEP, you will need the extra cc's if you are a hard core hillclimber. All BS aside, I love my 600 summit for the riding I do ( Mostly boondocking in the technical stuff and also some hillclimbing...Love the trees!) I have DJ clutch kit and it works AWESOME! People have commented that they can't believe that I can get to the places I do just riding a "600" . You will have to work to get to some of those " Butt puckering" places. Don't under estimate these little 600 sleds...very fun, BUT they will not hang with the big boys in the Super steep and deep. I am 6'1" 170 geared up and am not looking to move to a higher HP sled any time soon...very happy! BTW...we ride the snowies.

Well let me start by saying that i run a 05 summit 600 144x2 mod, now i will not say not to buy the 800 because the boys here will jump on me, so this is my take on it. I see the issue as how much one weighs + elevation one is running at, if you are ridding alot above 7000 feet go 800 might need more hp under that elevation as long as you are 180 pounds and under 600 will do just fine if you weigh more than 180 pounds 800 might be better. Deep snow is not just for the long tracks my 144 goes just fine with some what of a competant rider on it.
