583 Jetting Chart

I am looking for a jetting chart for a 583. I picked up a 97 Summit cheap with the intentions of parting it out on e-bay. But since the sled is in running condition and still licensed I plan on using it as a backup sled and a sled for my daughter to ride next winter. The sled originally was a 500 but someone put a 583 in it. I do not know where the 583 came out of. The sled does not have the HAC installed. I usually ride at 5-7 thousand. Also shift RPM would be helpful to.

I have some reference material at home. I can look for it tonight and post it for you.
It will help if you can find out what size carbsthis engine has now.

Thanks. I am guessing they are either 38 or 40mm. If you know of a way I can quickly check I would appreciate it. Someone scribed 210 on top of one and 200 on the top of the other. I have not disassembed the carbs to see if those jets are in it. I had the carbs removed and forgot to pay attention which was right or left. I know skidoo usually jetted one side fatter but I forgot which side that is.

Well I didn't find the info you need on my USB stick. I will look more, as I think I printed it all.
Those numbers are likely the size of main jets -- possibly what are currently in the carbs, but they may have been changed without the writing being changed.
Remember that the PTO side cylinder (the clutch side) runs hotter and should be jetted larger than the MAG cylinder. That is why you see two different numbers written on the carbs.

Snocop,
I ahve attached a booklet I found earlier on this forum or (DooTalk) that shows the specs for Doos from 1995 to 1999.
The STX/LT ran the 583 engine with 38s, so that is a good place to start.

I also have a 1996 Summit 583 and have removed the HAC. I ride in the 7000 to 9000 foot range and have found that in California spring conditions (35 to 50 F) I can drop down into the high 200s for the main jets. The factory jets (320/330) may not be too far off in colder weather at low altitude, but I think they may be too large for mountain riding.
I have also installed leaner "NeedleJjets" (not the needles, but the brass assy that the needle slides in) -- I think 480 O-4 but I cannot remember for sure. I run the stock needles (Jet Needle.)
I am running 45 pilot jets in both carbs. That carb does not have an air jet.
Also, the slotted-screw plug at the front of the bleed air passage going to the main jet assy should be removed.

Before I removed the HAC and re-jetted, a set of plugs would last about 2 hours of riding.
