5 Flashes

I have a 2006 900 that I rode for the first time last weekend. Every now and then the Check Engine Light would flash 5 times which is my Exhaust Temperature Sensor, see attached. My question is can this hurt my engine do to the low voltage? What actually does this sensor do? Research I've done tells me that I may have a connector unplugged which I hope to find. But, my sled is up at my buddies cabin, so I can't look and search for the culprit connector. I'd like to know my options incase I don't find anything wrong. Thanks for any help..

This is second hand but is confirmed by my EGT experience on my 09 system. Five flashes is the pipe sensor and when it codes your system goes 10% fuel enrichment. I've ran an entire day on a coded system...can't hardly get out its own way so you didn't want to do any dropping in type riding but was able to keep going plus make it 40 miles back to the trailer. So the day wasn't shot and we had fun...just didn't get my monies worth in performance. 6$ race gas for this power? pooooeeee

Ive heard that it can rob engine performance, my does this as well. bcause its flashing doesnt mean its unplugged, it can be faulty. there 150$ im going to get a new one this year.
