5.9 Cummins Diesel, Who's got one and do you like it?

MADS Smarty box. The only way to go.

I run an '01 with HTB2 (62/12)High-Tech turbo, 75 DD Inj, FASS 150/150, CFM intake and the power options are silly for no more mods that are done. 234,000 and runs like a teenager! ;)

Ive got a 97 12v 5spd with 400hp at the wheels. She does smoke a bit due to the big injectors, fuel plate, bigger turbo, south bend clutch, arp head studs with porting. Basicly a great truck that I use all the time. Just coming up on 200k with not a major problem that is not a fault of my right foot! I would buy another in a second!!

I've got a 99 with 300,000 miles, No plan on getting rid of it anytime soon!

RIMS.....16 vs 17

So answer me this...........why do the wheel sellers all say " if your truck came w/ 17 rims you can not downsize to 16"....

My 2004 5.9 came w/ the 17 x 8 rims and i want 16 x 8's why won't it work?

Will the rotos rub?

Friggin driving me crazy?

Where's a good snowest for Cummins? I need answers!!

Help..

I have a '85 Crew Cab that I built, I used the drivetrain out of a '92 with a manual. The truck is lifted 6", has 35" tires and a fabricated bumper. I made some changes to the Cummins build... I now make 350+ HP and 750+ torque at the wheels. I get 17+ MPG in town, and 21+ on the highway. Towing I lose 1-2MPG. In the original '92 I got 21-22 empty on the highway, and 17-18 in town...

I have 280K miles and the only repairs I have done to it is replace the headgasket and studed the head (I blew the HG when I exceded 40PSI boost). I also had to rebuild the manual trans at 265K (could be directly related to the amount of torque I am making). The trans rebuild cost me $260 in parts and I did it in my garage.

I am getting ready to pull the head and port it, as well as add twin turbos in the near future, I am looking for 1000+ ft/lbs of torque.

The later model trucks are definitely the way to go. I have an '06 2500 mega with a titan 7' deck, pacbrake airbags, levelling kit, 325/65/18s, Banks intake, Fusion bumper, Goerend built 48RE with billet 3-disk converter, flexplate, input and output shafts, Airdog Lift pump system, silverline exhaust, ATS manifold and A3K turbo, Dynatrac ball joints, Carli/bilstein shocks, Spyntec manual hub conversion, 3 gauge pod and a Smarty/Edge stack, but I digress.

The only issues I've had are with fuel injectors. Good filtration is key to protecting them, and they are expensive if you don't. I've done nine which shouldn't scare you because it was bad fuel that wiped them all out before my airdog was installed. That includes my set of 50hp Dynomites. Ouch. It can be prevented. Invest in gauges, common rails run hot.

I have an 01 6 spd. that I bought new and it just turned 100,000. Still in new condition. I've been contemplating some power upgrades but it runs so good and I really don't tow heavy anymore I hate to mess with it. It's nice to know that there are relatively cheap mods available that really work. .....and the price of new trucks, wow!

My dad had a '92 reg cab longbox dually and it was great except for some tranny issues, he now has an '08 6.7. I had a '97 dually and it was alright (had been abused before we purchased it). Now I have an '06 3500 singler rear wheel truck and I absolutely love it. I did a cat-back exhaust with a home made straight pipe, Banks intake and a light tune with a Smarty programmer and it's even better than before, but not so crazy that I will run into any problems with my automatic anytime soon. I have many friends who drive them also and they all love them. Several of them drive 04 & up trucks
