300 mile "chip-burn-off"

I have an 07 800 blizzard. I keep hearing about some chip that burns off and then my sled will come to life??? Does anyone know what this is about? Is it a change in timing or something. Hard to imagine anything else with carbs and mechanical oil injection. I heard that it was the same thing with the 08 800 XP. Cheers

There is no "chip" or anything else. There used to be a hold back on full timing advance for a period of a few hours of run time but they havn't had this since before the 800R.

Kind of funny to hear dealers telling you about the so called "chip burnout" .... Just makes you laugh

They do loosen up a bit and maybe this is what they are talking about.

timing is held back for the first 3 hours, this is a fact and in the shop manuals. For the 600 and 800's, timing is retarded 2 degrees for the first 3 hours

WOW! I thought we had beat this horse to death last year, even with data from actual 800R's hooked up to computers looking at timing during break in.

The MYTH continues! LOL
